DISHONEST!! They try and manipulate you, they do not commit to their promises, and they try and sneak in extra fees that were not originally agreed upon. The used car department is worst. Watch out for commit to their promises, and they try and sneak in extra fees that were not originally agreed upon. The used car department is worst. Watch out for Roland. Horrible! I will never buy from them again! More
So I went to Koons Ford Falls Church looking to buy a used car. I checked out a 2008 Hyundai Sonata. I test-drived it and I thought I liked it so me and the salesman went inside to talk about the price. used car. I checked out a 2008 Hyundai Sonata. I test-drived it and I thought I liked it so me and the salesman went inside to talk about the price. That's when an otherwise straightforward process just turned nasty. After initial discussions on what the salesman calls the "Out the Door Price", I made an initial offer and so this manager sat down beside me and in a menacing way asked me what's wrong with the car. I thought that was a strange question to ask. Should I know what's wrong with the car? Hmmm.... is this guy trying to intimidate me or what? I couldn't figure it out. One thing looks strange though. They were putting on top of the price and tags, taxes, etc. a $700+ Road Ready charge plus almost $400 Dealer Processing Fee. Of course, at that point I made a beeline out the door. And yes, the same manager could not resist it and yelled I was letting go of a good bargain for a few hundred bucks. The whole experience was just terrible and the staff just confirmed the worst stereotypes about used car salesmen. I still could not believe this is tolerated in Koons dealerships - I always thought it was one of the more reputable car dealerships in Northern Virginia. Oh, by the way, I ended up buying a brand new Hyundai Sonata at Alexandria Hyundai instead. The staff was great - there was none of this high-pressure sales tactics at Koons. It was a fun experience and I really love the car - great bargain too without any of those add-ons. More
Went to purchase a second vehicle; the employees seemded eager to help at first. We told them our needs and our wants and they seemed to want our business. Our credit is less than perfect, so we expected eager to help at first. We told them our needs and our wants and they seemed to want our business. Our credit is less than perfect, so we expected some limitations. The limitations they posed were questionable in our respects. We were told that the bank would only finance no higher than $13k and no older than 2006. The vehicles that they offered in that "window" did not fit our needs let alone our wants. We declined the offer and asked them to see what they can do because it wasn't the $13k that was the problem, it was the model year; we had seen an "older" vehicle on their lot with less miles and the specs we needed within the price range. Then they began pushing the same old car on us...calling every few hours every day (at home, on the job, on the cell), trying to make the car sound better than what it was. Finally we declined the offer altogether and told them that although we appreciate their efforts, we were no longer interested in doing business with them. We had actually given up on getting a vehicle altogether from anyone. Roland, a Koons lead saleman, got nasty about it since he "worked so hard to get it approved," but wouldn't tell me the name of the bank that was approving the loan so that we could call them and decline the offer. The phone calls quickly turned into harrassment as they tried even harder topush the vehicle we repeatedly stated that we didn't want. THIS WENT ON FOR THREE WEEKS! Ironically, we went to another dealership to inquire about a vehicle my father made mention of (that hasn't even come out yet) and ended up with a vehicle that fit our needs and wants withoiut any stipulations; it just so happened that Natt, a Koons sales manager, called as we were signing papers for our new car. When we told Koons that we were in the middle of signing and couldn't entertian them at that moment Koons offered us the vehicle that we originally wanted from thier lot and begged us not to do business with the dealer we were signing with. That upset us deeply because it proved that they could have granted our requestbut were refusing (because the older vehicle would have offered less comission because it was cheaper at only $7 instead of $13k) and so we signed papers with the dealer for our new car. Two days later we get a letter from Koons denying us credit "due to numerous inquires on your credit report" and dated it the SAME DAY we bought our new car from the other dealer. Then to top that off, Milton, a new Koons salesman, called and left a message saying that they could still put us in any vehicle we want and they wanted to know if we bought from another dealer. We found that to be funny because we just got a letter saying that they denied us credit, so how can they offer us any vehicle we want just days after denying us credit? We strongly discourage our friends/family to do business with Koons of Falls Church, or any Koons dealer for that matter. I just wish I had contact information for the head of Koons to make a formal complaint. If you need to see more complaints on Koons dealerships, you can find PLENTY on RipoffReport.com! More
If there was a rating option of "0" I would rate Koons Ford/Dodge used car sales a 0 for all of the above criteria. I have NEVER been treated so poorly in all my life. Not one aspect of my deal rate Koons Ford/Dodge used car sales a 0 for all of the above criteria. I have NEVER been treated so poorly in all my life. Not one aspect of my dealings with Koons in Falls Church was pleasurable. The sales force is rude and the quality of cars they try to sell is miserable. <br>My advice to anyone looking to buy a used car is to NOT buy a car from the Koons Ford/Dodge used car lot, ever! More
