Koenig Subaru was local to me and the first dealership I visited, although I'd talked with others online. By the time I visited, I knew what I was looking for. It was a pretty easy transaction because I was visited, although I'd talked with others online. By the time I visited, I knew what I was looking for. It was a pretty easy transaction because I was not leasing or financing and was firm in what I wanted and what I could afford. Since I ordered the car vs. choosing from existing inventory, it took 3 months to arrive. Robert, my salesperson, was good about answering my requests for updates and tracking the car's arrival. He did ask if I could come in and prepay so the car could be marked as sold in the month of January (vs. early February), but I said "no" and that was that. When the car did come in, Robert was off, so Nadean did the handoff. She was great too, but in that case, it sounds like their policy is then to split the commission, and I'm not sure that's fair, since Robert pitched the sale and worked with me for 3 months, but that's between them. I don't entirely understand the world of car sales. It's shrouded in mystery and can come off as sleazy, but I didn't have that vibe off Koenig. They didn't keep me sitting there for hours while they talked to the lurking figure in the glass-walled office. But, if I'd needed to finance, I probably would have bought online to save myself time. The key is doing the research, knowing what you want and holding firm. My partner did come very close to buying an Outback Wilderness, and I offered to buy his 5yr old Outback if he wanted to splurge, but he restrained himself and so I bought my new CrossTrek. It was a great experience, and I look forward to having my service done there. More
