I have been doing business with Kiefer Kia for over 20 years. I have purchased 5 vehicles there and had all of my service and maintenance done there. Today I went in for a routine oil change. I had 4 card years. I have purchased 5 vehicles there and had all of my service and maintenance done there. Today I went in for a routine oil change. I had 4 card punches and the 5th is free so I had made an appointment for the basic service and it still took two hours however, I didn’t mind the wait. When I checked in, the man behind the counter handed me a piece of paper with 3 options for oil changes. I said I just wanted the basic one and he pointed to the first option and told me I needed to sign. I verified with him that this was the basic package and he confirmed. I went ahead and signed, not questioning him since I have never been duped by this dealership before. When it came time to pay, I presented my punch cards. The last time I came in the very nice gentlemen I worked with gave me a new punchcard because I couldn’t find mine. He gave me a new one and assured me that I could combine them to cash in my free oil change on my next visit. Today, I handed them my punch cards and the man sitting behind the computer (named Ken whom I had never seen before) looked up and said to the girl that was helping me “you can’t use those, they have to be on one punchcard”. I explained that I had been given a new one when I thought I had lost mine and he said “You can’t combine cards, it says it right on there”. I took the cards and read the front and back and pointed out to him that it didn’t in fact, say that anywhere on the card. He then proceeded to start laughing at me. I was shocked so I just looked at him confused. I’ve never been treated like this at Kiefer Kia before. He went ahead and took the cards and so I thought ok at least they’re going to honor their program and what they told me. They continued to gather up the paperwork and then he told the girl who was helping me to “go ahead and charge her for the remainder”. I asked what the “remainder” was for as I had scheduled and requested a basic oil change knowing that I would be cashing in my free one. He said I had to pay $38 for an oil conditioner that was added. I explained that I had not asked for an oil conditioner nor had I authorized any being added. He said that I signed for it. I tried to explain to him that he had only given me three options to choose from and I chose the basic package. He said that it does include the oil conditioner and I should have read the fine print. I pointed out that I was never given an option for a package that didn’t include it and he said that I could have told him I didn’t want it. In conclusion, he quite clearly tricked me into buying this extra product. He was shady, rude and condescending. Sadly, this will be my last transaction with Kiefer Kia. I will be trading in my Kia next year somewhere else and going to Jiffy Lube for my oil changes until then! More
The service department is one of the best that I have used. Very accommodating to my needs as I live out of town and they always seem to work around my schedule.
