I had been to the Cape Coral Kia earlier that same day. What I noticed the most out of my visit to the Port Charlotte Kia, was how professional the people were. Probably NOT Kia Port Charlotte Again I had seen an online ad for Kia of Port Charlotte for a 2025 Kia Sorento AWD SX Prestige and had been looking for awhile The advertised price of $41,395.00 was gr online ad for Kia of Port Charlotte for a 2025 Kia Sorento AWD SX Prestige and had been looking for awhile The advertised price of $41,395.00 was great so my wife and I suggested lets just take a look. We had planned to purchase a 25 Kia Soronto and thought we would just swing by Kia at Port Charlotte. We have had 4 Kia vehicles before, our last was '23 Kia Telluride. It was a Friday evening. We arrived around 6:00PM. They close at 7:00. I told them about the ad on line and we began discussing the numbers and the costs. Immediately the $41,395.00 disappeared and never showed up again. First thing I learned was there was a built in cost that is added to the new car and you must accept it. It is not possible to order a vehicle without this built in. This is called Premium Protect Plus and adds about $2,000.00 to your new car for providing items that we found had no real value. Paint Protection was included, along with Interior Fabric Protection. Who really needs this. There are three (3) items included that are found already in my car insurance. A customer welcome kit is included with some pint size cleaning supplies (value about $9.95). They also graciously include a Customer Mobile App for Kia of Port Charlotte. The next item added was for Kia Port Charlotte documentation. I believe the number was $1,200.00. This is another item that provides no value to the purchaser but adds a lot of profit to the dealership. The last 4 Kia vehicles I purchased in Minnesota the documentation was typically $150.00 and there are no Premium Protection Plus items added to the vehicle. So my $41,395.00 all of a sudden became about $45,000.00. Next we discussed my trade in that was a Kia 23 Telluride with 28000 miles on it and valued on Kelly Blue Book and another sites to be worth approx $41,000.00 as a trade in. Kia of port Charlotte came back with $30,000. Really unacceptable. For the next 45 minutes we negotiated back in forth on the car value etc. During this transaction we had a total of 4 personnel (or managers) come and visit with us and continue to negotiate. During this period the only number I could get from them was the bottom line. I kept asking about a breakdown of the total to find exact how we got to that number and they always dismissed it. I had kept tract of the numbers all along and had a pretty good item where everything. I knew where I wanted to be and honestly I never got to that number. What I did do was finally accept the deal and be done. We had been there way too long, they were closing up and my wife wanted to just go home. What I should have done in retrospect was leave at that time and go elsewhere or wait for them to make a better offer. At any rate, we agreed and I suggested that I give them a down payment and come back the next day or so. I was just flabbergasted that they said no. They insisted they wanted me to take the new car TONIGHT and give them my old car. Clean it out right there in parking lot. I explained that my car was full of stuff and wanted to take a little time to carefully go through my car. They said they would help etc etc. I kept protesting, I wanted to do it carefully. They said all the paperwork can be done in a half an hour. I just did not like anything abut this whole situation and probably should have stopped right there and left. Because they discovered just how angry I was about having to make the transaction tonight they finally capitualated and we returned in the morning. I have always felt pretty happy about purchasing past cars, but not this one. This time I don't have much positive to say. By the way, I never did figure out what happened to the $41.395.00. For the record, it is a great car and has wonderful features just don't ask your salesman, to demonstrate because they probably don't know the answers. More
