My Kia Stinger recall work for the turbocharger took 3 full days for 3 hours of work and an extra wasted day when nothing was done. In May, 2024, Kia of Carson contacted me for an appointment to do the full days for 3 hours of work and an extra wasted day when nothing was done. In May, 2024, Kia of Carson contacted me for an appointment to do the recall work. The recall notice said the work should take 3 hours +. When I dropped the car off, my service advisor said the car would be ready in 4 hours. When I picked it up, no one said anything about the work not being done. I discovered the work had not been done after I received an email the next day saying the part was ready. When I complained, Nicole, the scheduler, said for the first time that all recalls take two visits. She said that the first visit is 3-4 hours for inspection and the second is 24 hours for the work. She didn't explain why the service advisor said the car would be ready in 4 hours. She said that Kia of Carson has only two tools to do the work so that only two cars per day might get done. I think the required two-visit story is a lie because it is not supported by Kia forums or the recall notice. Kia is trying to justify making an appointment when they don't have the parts or tools to do the work. If Kia makes the appointment for the recall, Kia should have the part and the tool rather than trying to sell additional services such as oil change, tire rotation and suggested maintenance. In my case, they got me to pay for an oil change and I declined other suggested and expensive maintenance because my Kia has low mileage. To accommodate my complaints, I was promised a rental car. However, it turns out that Kia's rental cars were not currently available. The guy in charge of rental cars said Kia must call my insurer to verify that I have adequate coverage. That took a three-party telephone call to allow my insurance company to verify coverage. After Kia confirmed coverage, I was rescheduled. I don't know why they couldn’t schedule me first thing in the morning (even months out) when they have the parts and the tool available and then I can pick up the car in a few hours. I went to Kia early in the morning and my new service advisor said my car would be done by the end of the day. 3 full days later at 4pm, the car was ready. I was not successful in getting texts or telephone calls returned during those 3 days to discover the status of my car. The only explanation I received on the day I got the car back was that they were backed-up. I was told that during the past two days, they had 100 requests for recall work -- mainly non-Stingers. It's hard to believe that the 3 hours of work took 3 full days and they couldn't predict the backup before inconveniencing me again. What a mess. What bad customer service not to return telephone calls or texts regarding the cause of the delay or condition of the car. More
