I took my car into Kia for a simple oil change. That’s all I wanted. After checking in my vehicle I was informed that there were two recalls on my car and they would take care of it. I figured ok That’s all I wanted. After checking in my vehicle I was informed that there were two recalls on my car and they would take care of it. I figured okay I will get an oil change and whatever recalls fixed, what’s the harm? A few minutes later I was told that my inspection had expired. I asked to see the sticker because I knew I had more time on the inspection. I was taken to my car to see the sticker but it was on the lift and it couldn’t be taken down. I was assured that the inspection was “free” and they will take care of everything. So I figured, I will get an oil change, the recalls fixed and an inspection, again, what’s the harm?…right? Well, about ten minutes later I was told that my tires were dry rotted and my car wouldn’t pass inspection without the new tires. I drive quite a distance to work. So again, I figured what’s the harm? After the oil change (which is all I came in to get done) 3 new tires, a brake fluid flush, and recalls fixed, I was told that they couldn’t do the inspection because of the recalls. They explained that the emission had to be restarted and the car needs to be driven a few miles before they can hook it up to the machine to inspect the engine. I know what you’re thinking. You’re probably thinking how can I drive a car with an expired inspection? Well technically, I wasn’t due for an inspection until the end of the month because the expiration date is 6/2022. Which they conveniently told me after they put on the new tires. I came in for a 20 to 40 dollar oil change and ended up spending nearly a thousand dollars (that I didn’t intend on spending) for an inspection that I didn’t need and one that they couldn’t do. After handing over nearly one thousand dollars, I just had to ask why didn’t you know that I couldn’t get the inspection before all of this work? So I payed nearly a thousand dollars for some work but on the flip side I got new tires which will be beneficial because drive quite a distance everyday. So again, I thought what’s the harm? I guess I asked myself that question too soon because the very next morning while driving to work I heard this strange noise. The noise occurred when the car decelerated or when it was rolling without my foot on the gas. I was puzzled by the noise because the mechanics at Kia just fixed all of the “problems” with my car. I was able to get to work safely but on the way home the noise was louder and more frequent. Remember, all I needed was an oil change and nearly a thousand dollars later my car is making a strange noise. I brought my car to my father who listened to the noise. He and I knew that it had something do with the tires because the car NEVER made this noise. It started making the noise after they convinced me to buy new tires. So the next morning my father took the car in on my behalf. The manager test drove the car and then the mechanic test drove the car. They checked the shocks and my father asked them to look at the back tires. They ignored him and put my car on the lift. Kia kept my car the entire day and never called. When we called back, we were told that it’s the struts and the cost would be $1085. Remember, I originally went in for an oil change. The car wasn’t making that strange noise until after the mechanic at Kia changed my tires. My father stressed the point that the car didn’t make that noise until Kia changed the tires and asked them to check the back tire that looked incorrectly mounted. When the manager took a firm stance on the struts, my father instructed them to not touch the car so we could get another opinion. Fast forward to the end, it turns out that there was nothing wrong with my struts and all they needed to do was mount the tire correctly. So the question is can their service be trusted? I lost total confidence in their ability to professionally and accurately diagnosed a problem. What bothers me the most is that the manager of the service department had the power to look into and rectify the situation and he chose not to do so. More

I purchased a certified pre owned vehicle at this dealership. To begin sales is very dishonest, the online prices which states “no money down” becomes “after 3k down” once you arrive at the dealershi dealership. They were unable to budge on the advertised price until I was ready to walk away. After price was agreed on, I went into the finance office to start my paperwork. Thank god the finance rep showed me the contract before I signed, because they never updated the negotiated price, and I was almost tricked into paying 3k more then agreed. Once that was fixed the overall process was pretty smooth. At the end of the process I was walked out the door by the sales rep, who then handed me one key for the vehicle. When I asked where the second key was he stated “its a used car I’m not obligated to give you a second key”. I told him I need a second key, he then told me he will contact me tomorrow in regards. The following day after receiving no call I called the sales rep, he told me that he can order me a key “at cost”. I then explained that this is a certified vehicle, and that I will contact corporate to verify if 2 keys are required. Within 1 min of saying that I was told, “I asked my manager and I am suppose to provide a 2nd key”, I was then told it was going to be ordered. I had to wait over 3 months until the key arrived, because it was “on back order”. I called several other dealerships to double check, who all told me the key was not on back order. But regardless the key arrived 3 months later, and I was given an appointment a week after it arrived. When I arrived for my appointment it took about 45 minutes. I checked the buttons on the key fob, and everything seemed ok. As I was almost home (approx 40 mins away) I noticed that the key which you take out of the key fob on the new spare was never cut. I then turned around and drove another 40 mins and paid another toll to go back and address this issue. I was immediately given excuses, and they began the blame game. I left my original and the new key with them as they told me they were going to have a locksmith come cut the key, and they will deliver it to my house later that day. 2 days later and after several calls I had to make to get a response, they said the key was completed and on the way. Their driver arrived, he then tested the key and realized the cut was incorrect and that the key did not work. I looked at the keys with an untrained eye and I can clearly see the cuts had major differences with the original. The service manger/advisor said he was going to bring the key back and have it cut by the locksmith and it will brought back the following day. I did not hear back for 3 days, during that time I called repeatedly and was told I will get a call back and never did. On the third day around 5pm I got a call from the locksmith who said he was told to call me, so him and I can Figure it out. If he was a true locksmith he does not need the car present when he has the original key. I told the locksmith the dealership had my keys and they have been dodging my calls for days, he said he will call them the next day and have them contact me. The following day by 2pm after receiving no calls, I called the dealership and told them to just deliver my keys, I expressed that I was tired of these games and I just want my keys back, and if their unable to complete their work and cut this key properly in a timely manner, that I will have to find my own locksmith. Very quickly the service manager/advisor said “no problem we will have your keys delivered now give them 30 mins”. 3 hours later the driver arrived with my keys (original & new) we tested the key again, and found that it still did not work. I am in disbelief that a dealership would deliver the key, and complete the job knowing that the key is incorrect and does not work, leaving me to deal with it. I am now left with a useless key, and I’m left to figure it out myself, out of my own pocket. More

Jaihrell made what could have been a bad experience good. At this point in my life, I have hated car shopping. I know what I want and what I don’t want. I don’t need to be sold a lot of extras, yet the vehicle I am looking for. What made this even more challenging was that there is such a limited quantity of vehicles. My wife and I went to three different Kia dealerships - the first two trying to sell us something we did not want. Moreover, according to the sales staff and finance manager, approximately five vehicles on the lot had not been “claimed.” On top of that, three of the five cars were sold while we were there. It is a tight market. What made this experience memorable was our Sales Consultant Jaihrell. The young man was the verse on the car and the process. One challenging point of contention was making sure the insurance transferred over to the vehicle we were getting. He wanted to make sure the insurance representative stayed on the phone until the paperwork came through if there were errors. Well, there were errors, and three times the agents we were speaking with got disconnected. What would have been a frustrating time for us, was made better by watching Jaihrell taking care of business. Should you choose Kia of West Nyack, I recommend speaking with Jaihrell first. More
