I had the oil changed on March 29 as I have since I purchased the car in July 2015. On Thursday, April 21 I left my home in Huger to meet a friend in Surfside. As I was getting to McClellandville my ch purchased the car in July 2015. On Thursday, April 21 I left my home in Huger to meet a friend in Surfside. As I was getting to McClellandville my check brake fluid light came on. I stopped and added a bottle of brake fluid as there was none in the container. By the time I got to Garden City the light came on again and I had to push the brake all the way to the floorboard to stop. I took it to a brake repair shop in Surfside who discovered all the brake fluid rods were corroded and leaking into a reservoir. He repaired it which cost me $375. My issue is that the checklist given to me from Kia on 3/29 indicates these lines were checked and apparently deemed okay. I have completely lost trust in the service department there as this could have ended up causing a wreck with injuries or worse death. I will not be taking my car back to this dealership. Kia Country of Charleston is an hour and a half from my house in Bluffton. I could have driven 30 minutes to Savannah (where I bought my first Kia) but when I called and spoke with the salesman, I was over house in Bluffton. I called Kia Country of Charleston and was fortunate enough to have Jorden Reaves answer the phone. After a few minutes of the first call, he answered my questions, provided insight into my vehicle of interest, and did something most dealers I’ve dealt with have not: told the truth. I wanted to build a vehicle and he told me it would take a while due to the constraints faced by the automotive industry at the time. I asked about dealer mark up because you can’t pick it up at the factory and he told me it was lowest at this dealership (yes, I called several dealerships around the country and confirmed). It took longer than initially planned to get the vehicle but he kept me updated throughout the process and even had management discuss the situation with me to assure they were doing everything they could to speed up the process. Once the vehicle arrived, we made the trip and we were greeted like family. Zola had our tags and purchase process completed within minutes. Jason actually tracked us down in the parking lot to ensure we were satisfied with the finances. I’ve purchased a lot of cars and have never been so well taken care of. I will gladly make the drive to Charleston again to purchase my next Kia and not think twice. More
