My daughter had a recall for some part of the front brakes. We called and scheduled the appointment for them to fix this free of charge. They called her halfway throughout the day and said some sort of brakes. We called and scheduled the appointment for them to fix this free of charge. They called her halfway throughout the day and said some sort of cap was needing to be replaced in order to move forward on the recall. We questioned a little to try and figure out what cap he was talking about. He said something like a “butterfly cap”. He said he cannot do the recall without her purchasing this. He quoted us at around $100. Then at the end he said it was $75. We got the receipt later that day and looked to see what was actually needed. They replaced 20 lug nuts. Like what? Why the heck would we need to replace all 20 lug nuts before he could do the free of charge recall? They totally scammed her. They knew she wouldn’t know anything about a “cap”. He used some fancy words to dress it up and make it sound important. If he would have said “lug nuts”, we would have known what those were and could have made our decision. That’s a bunch of crap for them to do that to her. They knew xxxx well she wouldn’t know what a butterfly cap was. She did not need all 20 lug nuts replaced also. So be careful when getting any recalls. They will say something needs replaced. My advice, ask around and look it up before giving an answer. More
