Service manager Mike seemed a little hesitant to perform a re-flash of the ECU because, according to what he told me, they had never done one. And the techs didn't seem to be aware that Consult 3+ gives th a re-flash of the ECU because, according to what he told me, they had never done one. And the techs didn't seem to be aware that Consult 3+ gives the option to treat the existing ECU as a new ECU so that it will re-install the factory ECU software. As a Nissan master tech of 38 years told me on the NICO forum, "Most of the dealer techs don't know that Consult 3+ gives them the option to treat the old ECU unit as a new ECU without software. If it won't do a re-flash that is because Consult 3+ looks at the ECU part number, not the actual software, and thinks that it has the latest version. So when a tech wants to re-flash an ECU, he should choose "new" so that Consult 3+ will be fooled into thinking the ECU is new. Then, the ECU will take the factory software re-flash." They did a good job in scanning for DTC's. But I think they they were hesitant, or didn't know how, to take the next step and actually re-flash the ECU. I'd, still, like to return and give this a try. I think we could get smarter out of this. More
