In July 2011 I purchased a 2008 BMW 335i convertible from Kay Cars Inc. 615 N Vermont Ave, Los Angeles, CA 90004 (323)667-2277. The car was represented to me as having a “clean” carfax and no accident history. I reviewed the car fax and talked to the dealer to verify this. The car appeared to be in excellent condition but had visible sidewall damage to left real tire although it appeared superficial. I asked if the tires were okay and also if they’d be willing to replace it if as I was still a little uncomfortable with the condition of the tire. The dealer then produced a further partial invoice apparently from BMW resale service saying the car was 100% sound and drivable. I say partial because the dealer wouldn’t let me see the whole report as it probably contained the actual price they paid for the car. The asking price for the car was 34,995 at the time. I was paying cash and the dealer was willing to give a further discount if I brought actual cash money, the more actual cash the larger the discount. I could only get 5000 and a 33,000 cashiers check as that was the limit my bank would give me in a single day. The dealer agreed to an out the door price of 37,500 which amounted to roughly a 500 discount. The dealer then informed me that on the final invoice he would be changing the purchase price of the car to 30,059 so that price plus fees would equal 33000.96. 33000 just happened to be the exact amount of my cashiers check. The 4500 cash would be outside of the transaction, at least on paper. He said that doing this allowed him to give the discount. Two weeks later the damaged tire went flat. Since run a flat tire can’t be repaired I spent 600 for a new set of tires which I happened to find a good deal on. About 7 months later I was considering selling or trading the car. I wound up going to Carmax to have the car appraised. As a result of that I found out the car had an accident history. Case # 33392089 8/5/2009 in Suffolk County, NY collision with another vehicle. They also uncovered paint and bodywork on both front fenders and the hood. I complained to the BBB which prompted Armon from Kay Kars to call me. He still contends that they had no knowledge of the cars accident history and that it did have a clean carfax. He suggested I pursue a claim with BMW or the Adesa auction house as they must have misled Kay Kars. Then he decided to help me by making a conference call with the Adesa auction house. Adesa said that the dealer must call the arbitration dept that turned out to not be available. He then told me he didn’t have time to deal with this anymore so told me to call Adesa arbitrations back posing as his employee. I did this and Adesa arbitrations told me that while yes the car has a “green light” good to drive rating they in fact had disclosed to Kay Kars that bodywork had been done on both fenders, hood AND right rear fender. I then consulted a lawyer and through him produced a legal “letter” which I sent to Kay Kars. They responded with FAKE documents with extensive handwritten in details of fully disclosing the accident and bodywork history. Yet in response to the BBB complaint above they publicly stated they had no idea of the cars accident and bodywork. Total lies. I contend that Kay Kars knew about the body work, accident history and didn’t tell me when asked. Also, since the purchase documents were manipulated, I can’t pursue a buyback claim with carfax if the carfax data was wrong. Kay Kars also refuses to take responsibility and wants to deflect the blame on BMW and Adesa and says I should pursue a claim with them. If I knew the car had been in an accident I probably wouldn’t have bought it. More
Looked at 5 different dealership, honestly their price was very good, also they were speedy in doing my financing on the spot. So i promised them to leave a good review for them.. I've bought a BMW 2005 545i with very low miles for a fair price, the attractiveness of the car was the fact that it "was a CPO" and had BMW warranty until 2011. Right after (literally 2 days) I've bought the car the battery died, K-Cars replaced with a RECYCLED battery! Weeks later same problem. Took to the dealer just to be informed that the warranty was voided because the car had been in 3 COLLISIONS! Not 1 or 2 fender bender, but 3 MAJOR collisions. I've been contact by one of the victims attorney that was looking for the previous owner, and now he is my attorney. I am suing the xxxx of this "dealer" they are sketchy BEYOND sketchy. DON NOT TRUST A WORD THEY SAY, LIES OVER LIES. STAY AWAY! More
Terrible place, don't ever go here EVER. It's been a nightmare dealing with these people. I DID A LOT OF RESEARCH BEFORE BUYING MY 2007 BENZ. I CAN DEFINITELY SAY THEIR PRICES ARE AMAZING! I'VE BEEN TO SO MANY CAR DEALERS IN LAST FEW WEEKS...I WAS GOING CRAZY! THANK GOD FOR THESE GUYS THEY REALLY DEFINITELY SAY THEIR PRICES ARE AMAZING! I'VE BEEN TO SO MANY CAR DEALERS IN LAST FEW WEEKS...I WAS GOING CRAZY! THANK GOD FOR THESE GUYS THEY REALLY MADE IT EASY FOR ME. THEY GOT ME A LOWER RATE THEN MY BANK. THE FINANCE GUY EVEN HELPED ME FIX COUPLE BLEMISHES ON MY CREDIT. I BOUGHT A CAR FROM THIS DEALER LAST MONTH WITH OUT-THE DOOR PRICE. THAT MEANS INCLUDING DOC FEES, REGISTRATION FEE, TRANSFER FEE, AND TAXES. THE DAY I PAY OFF MY CAR, HE SAID I PAY ALL COSTS AND SHOW ME T DOOR PRICE. THAT MEANS INCLUDING DOC FEES, REGISTRATION FEE, TRANSFER FEE, AND TAXES. THE DAY I PAY OFF MY CAR, HE SAID I PAY ALL COSTS AND SHOW ME THE DMV PAPER THAT TOTAL IS 0. WE AGREE TO SEND THE LICENSE PLATE TO ME. AFTER A MONTH LATER, I DIDNT GET MY ANYTHING FROM DMV YET. I CALLED TO THE DEALER . THEY SAID THAT MY LICENSE PLATES IS NOW WITH THEM BUT I HAVE TO PAY FOR THE REGISTRATION BECAUSE IT IS NOT INCLUDED. HE SAID YOU MAY CHECK YOUR PAPER AGAIN AND SEE THAT IN THE REGISTRATION FEE FIELD. IT SAID ESTIMATED =0 . NOW THEY WANT ME TO PAY THEM ANOTHER $ 300 FOR REGISTRATION INCLUDING LATE FEE CUZ THE REGISTRATION EXPIRED A FEW MONTH BEFORE I PURCHASED. THEY ARE SO MUCH TRICKY AND AVOID TO TALK OVER THE PHONE. I PAY $470.00 FOR A 2006 PIECE OF JUNK THAT WAS RECENTLY APPRAISED AT $10,000, PLEASE KEEP IN MIND I JUST BOUGHT THIS CAR IN DECEMBER OF 2008, ITS A 2006 AND I STILL OWE $21,000.
