Hassle free enjoyable car purchase at Joyce Honda I came to the Joyce Honda dealer in Denville, NJ, not knowing yet what maker of minivan to buy. The product specialist, Efren, showed me the options I came to the Joyce Honda dealer in Denville, NJ, not knowing yet what maker of minivan to buy. The product specialist, Efren, showed me the options and took me on a test drive within about 10 min after I arrived. I later went to two other local dealers (Chrysler and Toyota), each of them took more than half hour to go through the paperwork before I could began test driving. I came back later of the day and fully prepared for a protracted long negotiation on price. (I did a throurough research and found the “car purchase strategy “ site to be most useful). I sat down with Efren and made my offer and went through my rationales. He listened very attentively. Without much of a back and forth he already drew up the sell paper to present to his manager. And 15 min later he told me I can have my car! I am also impressed by the thoroughness that Efren took in preparing us for picking up the vehicle. The only glitch we had was that we had to call the insurance company on the spot to add the new car to the existing policy. We should have done this ahead of time. It took me 3 trips and about two hours in total with Joyce Handa to drive away in my car from the initial shopping around. A great experience indeed. More

Disgusted In early July we purchased a certified pre-owned vehicle from Joyce Honda which I had paid for in full. When we picked up the vehicle, we were given In early July we purchased a certified pre-owned vehicle from Joyce Honda which I had paid for in full. When we picked up the vehicle, we were given temporary plates and registration and would wait for the permanent registration and title to come in from the DMV. As the expiration date on the temps drew near, we called the dealership to check the status of the title and registration. The dealership told us they were having a problem getting the title but they should have it within a week. We did not get the title within a week or a month! It took 4 months of back and forth with the dealership and we were told different stories every time we called. We were told by the dealership, “the previous owner had traded in the vehicle but it had not been paid off, so Honda paid it off but the bank had sent the title to the previous owner and not back to the dealership. Supposedly the previous owner could not find the title and had to sign papers to get a duplicate. It took her 4 weeks to get the papers signed and turned in to the DMV for a new title.” Then we were told, “the bank wouldn’t release the title because they said the lien had not been paid on the vehicle”…on and on and on. The manager who we were dealing with for about 2 months sent us a text that he suddenly resigned because he was sick of all the bull that goes on there. We then were dealing with the VP of the used car department, Tom Stark, from that point on. I finally got a call on Nov. 9th that the title was there. When I went to pick it up I had to pay the $69.50 DMV fee. I spoke to Tom Stark –VP, at the dealership and asked if Honda could pick up the DMV fee for all of our trouble. He was arrogant and accusatory and said, “No that is your responsibility to pay the DMV. Instead of being treated like a customer who was being inconvenienced, I was accused of being angry for no reason. During our conversation he said to me, “why are you so angry, what did you have to do about it?” Meaning, in his opinion, this should not have been an inconvenience to me in any way. The dealership was dealing with the headache. NOT TRUE…this was a major headache for me. I had to constantly make phone calls and I was worried and stressed that my daughter was driving a car without a title and God forbid she got in an accident and totaled the car…we have no proof of ownership and it would have been a total loss! During this time I did some research and found this on the NJ DMV Website, “Dealers are reminded that they're prohibited from trading in motor vehicles without valid titles”. At the end of the day after all the confusion and inconvenience that Joyce Honda put me through, you would think that they would at least be apologetic and maybe offer to waive the DMV fee instead of questioning my integrity and insulting me when all of this was their fault to begin with. Lesson learned – STEER CLEAR of Joyce Honda and never leave a dealership without a title! More
