We had come to repeated (i.e., re-confirmed) sales agreements over the internet concerning a Prius 08 package 1. After the test drive, we find that all the prius we wanted was sold out (this happens). So we asked when the next shipments would come in. The sales person responded that he wasn't sure, probably about a month. So, he offered to order what we wanted from factory. We thought that'd be great so we could upgrade to a package 2 prius, which was cool because we wanted the extra safety features that it offered. The next day, we waited for the salesperson to tell us how much it would cost to have the car special shipped. We confirmed and re-confirmed the price the same day, and the next day drove 45 miles to finalize the paperwork to buy. But! We came on on an unexpected day, and found they had just gotten in a new shipment of Prius (this only 2 days after we were told it'd be about a month). We looked further and found that both the original type of car we wanted (package 1) and the upgraded (package 2) were available on the lot. With the previous DOCUMENTED sales agreements in hand, we said, hey, let's buy the one on the lot. why special order one that's already here. BUT. The dealership refused to honor our printed, documented sales agreements, and jacked the price of the package 1 $700 above our previous agreement. So, we said, in that case let's just go with the special order, since that's a package 2 and is $100 cheaper than the quote you're giving today. They didn't honor that one either. We were shocked, as they honored neither previous agreement. During the argument that ensued, we said, this is horrible and people need to hear about this. The sales manager said, "I don't care if you give me a bad review on the internet becuase it's not effecting my profits." What kind of service is that? They were dishonest and quite disrespectful. The price they ultimately tried to push on us was $500 below MSRP and was a full $1000+ dollars different than the written agreement that encouraged us to drive all the way down there in the first place! I went to have the recommended mileage service work done and because the Check Engine light was on. They did not do all the maintenance work that they advertised would be done, and some of the work that the and because the Check Engine light was on. They did not do all the maintenance work that they advertised would be done, and some of the work that they did they didn't do correctly. They completely ignored the Check Engine issue. I complained all the way up to the owner. They refused to give me a refund and they never offered to redo the work that should have been done. They eventually offered to overcharge me to have additional work done related to the Check Engine light and the Trac Off light, which came on after their shoddy maintenance job. More
I was looking at several cars from Toyota, including the Prius (06 or 07), Rav 4 (07) or Corolla (07). My test driving experience with this dealer is good. As far as this goes, they are friendly and courteo Prius (06 or 07), Rav 4 (07) or Corolla (07). My test driving experience with this dealer is good. As far as this goes, they are friendly and courteous; they'll let me test drive pretty much any car I wanted (at least the ones I was looking at). The problem comes at the time of negotiating the purchase price. At least with me, they wanted to charge full MSRP + TTL for the new car and only offered a fraction of the Kelley Blue Book for my trade it. Now, I can probably understand that they would want full MSRP for the Prius (although today, end of 06 and start of 07, the Prius is not as hot or scarce as it used to); but it was extremely hard to talk them down on all prices. Now, I'm not expecting them to discount 6000 dollars from the car, I am not unreasonable, but with them conceding a couple hundred sounded like I was stealing. And don't get me started with what they wanted to offer for my trade it. They were offering less than half of the KBB value; I know my car, I know what condition it is in and I know exactly how much it is worth... so, in essence, if I had agreed to their trade in offer, it was so low that they would have made at least a 260% profit on it (yes, profit). Now, don't think that I'm opposed to profit, far from it; but there's a big difference from making money and taking unscrupulous advantage of your customer. I did not try to make them offer me more for my trade it, by the time we got to that part of the negotiation I was so tired trying to bring the sale price on the new car that I just said forget it and left. Oh, they did ask me, "well, what will it take then for you to drive out of here with the new car". I just said: that you give it away for free and walked out. More
I bought a used Camry from these folks. All of their vehicles are Touota certified for safety. Or so they say..... When I let them know that the gas tank was leaking profusely, they offered to make a better deal on another used vehicle when I was ready but that they would NOT take back the Camry. The salesman, who was soon fired, told me that the car needed a new muffler. No problem, right? Wrong! The entire exhaust system had to be replaced before I even owned the car for a month! 6 months of ownership has required over $3,000 in repairs so far. I love Toyotas, but there is NO WAY I would even consider Joseph Toyota. I will seek out a dealership with integrity and honesty first when I go shopping this fall! More
