Unfortunately, they confirmed my prior beliefs I had a poor experience with Belzer's in the late 90s. Since then I have been hesitant to buy a vehicle from them and have mostly shopped at Harold(n I had a poor experience with Belzer's in the late 90s. Since then I have been hesitant to buy a vehicle from them and have mostly shopped at Harold(now Lupient) Chevy in Bloomington or Apple Valley Ford. I was up front with my salesperson about this from the beginning. The only reason I was there was that a few friends had said they had positive experiences on recent purchases. Well, I guess it is fine if you are buying a new vehicle, but their used department leaves something to be desired. The purchasing part of it was fine. The Salesperson was up front and I wasn't pestered while out on the lot which I enjoy. There was some poor communication pertaining to our purchase and trade in but was resolved fairly quickly. My real beef comes with the condition of my vehicle. It was priced at $2300 below the blue book value so I figured there would be some reconditioning required. What I didn't expect was about $4k in work needing to be done if I paid someone to do it. For starters, less than week after I bought it the check engine light came on. It now comes and goes and I plugged my reader into it and found it has a cylinder misfire. Bad plugs more than likely and a scant $40 repair for my self. They could do it for less as they probably get the plugs for around $2-3 bucks apiece. Second, the transmission fluid was extremely dirty, this is something I should have caught at the time I purchased but I am human, I'll give them a pass. They installed new tires and as far as I am concerned that was all that was done for reconditioning on the vehicle. However, they didn't perform an alignment so that will have to be done to insure the even wear of the tires. After a few days at home I noticed 2 puddles on floor of driveway, albeit small they are concerning nonetheless. One stems from a leak in one of the oil cooler lines. I know I looked at this when checking it out as I had a problem with this part on a prior Suburban. More than likely they wiped the oil clean from the line before putting it on the lot. Second, an even more major leak coming from back of motor area. Will be getting under it tomorrow to find out if it is one of 3 problems, Loose oil filter, bad oil pan gasket, or fearfully, a main seal leak. The main seal leak would cost over a grand at most repair shops to repair. The other 2 are no big deal but could cost upwards of $120 to fix myself or around $250-300 in a shop. There are a couple other minor things that don't work and they are inconsequential to me. I understand that they are running a business and need to make money whether or not the vehicle is new or used, however, not fixing some of these problems which could be done by them at a fraction of the cost to me tells me they still care more about making money than their customers. There is only one scenario that would cause me to ever buy a car from them again. The detailing of the car after purchase left something to be desired as well, they ran it thru the wash and vacuumed the floors and reinstalled the floormats. The door panels had visible dirt on them as did the dash. Also comparing them to prior dealerships. From both Harold and Apple Valley I get birthday cards and have always received thank you cards after purchasing a vehicle. I received no such thing from our salesperson at Belzer's. Nor did I receive the maintenance coupons that the other 2 provide. Both of those dealerships offer first oil change free on new and used vehicles and Apple Valley Ford gives you a service coupon and 5 reduced price oil changes. More
