I had been looking for a used (2005-2007) Altima, Corolla or Civic for about a month or so & I saw a lot of cars & a lot of dealerships in that time. Many times both the cars & the dealers left a lot to be or Civic for about a month or so & I saw a lot of cars & a lot of dealerships in that time. Many times both the cars & the dealers left a lot to be desired. One day I was searching on the Web for the 3 models & I came across a listing for a 2005 Altima that Paul Miller Land Rover of Parsippany (PMLR). The price & mileage looked good, so I took a ride out there to look at the car. The car was as described (actually better because it was very clean). That first trip I only looked, never spoke to anyone because of 2 reasons-first I had an appointment at another dealership & second I had a 1998 Tracer that I wanted to use as a trade on the deal-as I looked at the cars they were selling at the 3 Paul Miller dealerships that are adjacent & across Route 46-Audis, Range Rovers, Bentley’s, Porches-I was little hesitant about asking them to take a 1998 Tracer as a trade. I think the Altima I was looking at was the 4th cheapest car they had for sale, so I figured, ‘what kind of service am I going to get from them?’ I figured none. I figured very, very wrong. The next day I went back to PMLR spoke with a salesman, took the car for a test drive, looked it over again & they evaluated my trade. The price they were asking for the Altima 2.5S was already very attractive-$12,995. They offered $1100 for the trade. With a little prodding from me they brought the deal down to a total of $12,800-that included the Altima minus the trade for the Tracer, tax, tags & documentation fees, everything-This was a cash deal & that was the amount the check I gave them was for. A good price (which I feel it was) wasn’t the only thing that impressed me with PMLR-the salesman Ed was terrific, never pressured, never made one of those ‘I can give it to you if you sign now’ speeches. He was polite, spent a lot of time with me & never made me feel like I was buying the 4th cheapest car he had on the lot. I signed the deal on Saturday. I went back on Monday to pick up the car. The dreaded meeting with the guy who tries to sell you all sorts of things after you make your deal was coming-I thought; this is where they’re going to get me, or at least make me suffer through it-wrong again. Tom explained the add-ons to me & did it quickly (extended warranty, tire hazard coverage etc.) Once again there was no pressure put on me & to tell you the truth it made me start asking questions about the extended warranty, which I may actually get. I’ve been buying cars for about 40 years now & never have I felt this good about a car purchase, nor have I been treated as well as I was at PMLR. If you find a good buy there via the Web or in an advertisement give them a chance-I think you’ll be surprised too. BTW, the showroom & the rest of the employees there were excellent also. More
