Tom Chase is the BEST service advisor I have ever met! I'm really thankful. He did a fantastic job today with great recommendations for the things my car needed. Next time I come I will want to see nobody I'm really thankful. He did a fantastic job today with great recommendations for the things my car needed. Prior to making service appointment I received multiple service reminders stating that I was due for service or overdue for service. Finally I received not only the reminder, but a special offer to have th service reminders stating that I was due for service or overdue for service. Finally I received not only the reminder, but a special offer to have the oil & filter changed at a special price of $29.95. I admit that was a great price and lure to get my car in for service with the expectation to upsell additional "needed service". I was ok with that, so I brought the vehicle in at the scheduled time. Prior to bringing vehicle in I received at least 2 or 3 reminders that I had an 8:00am appointment and it was already determined that I was "over due" for the oil change which was the sole purpose of scheduling me in Upon arrival I was greeted within a few minutes and the Service Advisor ushered me to his work station to review what I came in to have done. He reviewed my prior service visit and mileage against today's Mileage and stated that I was actually to early to have my oil change as the recommended oil change interval for the type oil that my engine requires is actually 1 year or 10,000 miles. His information provided contradicted two key points. One that the several service reminders stated that i was due or overdue for the oil change and Two, the oil change sticker that is placed on the top left inside corner of my windshield documented that I was due at this present time, actually over due by a few weeks which would have put me on a scheduled oil change interval of 5 months/5000 miles. "Personally" i feel is acceptable except for the fact that it had been only 1000 miles since my last oil change, but now 6 months ago. I told my service advisor that since I was already there, and given such a great price offer for $29.95 just to go ahead and do it. I dont think he was to happy with that as I was only there for an oil change which in the automotive dealership when management reviews the effectiveness of their marketing to get older cars back in the door by offering a really low price for an oil change as the lure fails their goal to score a hit of several hundred dollars. Not to mention, the advisor has his feet held to the fire along with the technician as to why they failed to upsell service on a vehicle that may be in need of service. It also effects the service advisors ELR per R/O (Meaning that their Effective Labor Rate per Repair Order) is diluted by only having One labor Line (which is in this case my oil & filter change) and no other repairs on the Repair Order at time of writeup. After establishing that I was there for their promotional priced oil change, the advisor said that I would be there waiting for 1.5 to 2 hours and just make myself comfortable in the designated waiting area. After 1.25 hours I received a text message from either the technician assigned to my car or the advisor stating that I needed one light bulb changed because it was inoperative ($26.35) which was no big deal, but I declined. Not so much over the cost because I know the dealership needs to make money, but for the sole reason that it was an unreasonable amount of time given just to do the quickest of all services being an Oil Change. I FULLY UNDERSTAND that taking the car to a new car dealer service dept doesn't promote themselves as a quick oil change facility, but it doesn't take more than half hour for just an oil change ESPECIALLY after receiving 2 to 3 reminders from the service department that I had an 8;00am appointment and that it was prearranged that I would be waiting while the service would be performed. It wasn't like I just walked in without an appointment. Now why would I allow them to take up more of my valuable time to do additional simple work that would by their clock ad an additional 30-45 minutes for what is actually an additional 5 minutes to replace a bulb? (Yes, I did it myself) along with the light bulb recommendation there were additional services that their technician recommended, but actually all based on "best guess" work adding an additional $600.00.
