This was the worst car buying experience of my life. I bought a 2003 Toyota Matrix from Ira and from sales to service, it's been terrible. When trying to negotiate the price with the salesman, I was basi bought a 2003 Toyota Matrix from Ira and from sales to service, it's been terrible. When trying to negotiate the price with the salesman, I was basically told that the price was set and if I didn't want the car, he'd sell it to someone else by the end of the day. Wow! Way to make your customers feel important! The car recently had an issue with the transmission. I had purchased an extended warranty, so they called to tell me that I had to approve over $400 worth of work so they could tear the tranny apart and diagnose the problem. If it was determined to be a defect than the warranty would cover it. They tore it apart and the service rep called me to say that I needed a new tranny, which would cost me $4K if I didn't have the warranty, but it would be covered and they would give me a rental car while mine was in the shop. I went to get the rental and was told that they didn't have any cars left to rent. Great. When I picked up my car the woman showed me the work order which said only a small part had to be replaced within the tranny and it would have cost me $1,100. I'm still trying to figure out why the service rep lied to me about the work initially. When we went to pick up my car, we went to the used car lot there to look at a couple Siennas that they had. We stood around for a good 20 minutes before I finally went and found a sales person who said "what are you looking for", and I said "a used Sienna". He said "those are all sold" and turned around and walked back inside. Thanks for the help! We ended up buying a '06 Sienna at Atlantic Toyota in Lynn and had a GREAT buying experience there. Skip Ira and go to Atlantic! More
I have bought over a dozen Toyota's from afew different dealers this is the worst experience by far. Brazen bait and switch with the aid of WEEI Radio. This afternoon 1/18/07 IRA announced 'Camry for C dealers this is the worst experience by far. Brazen bait and switch with the aid of WEEI Radio. This afternoon 1/18/07 IRA announced 'Camry for Corolla prices 13887' . Called the website 800 number led to Scott who assured me that 'at least 7 of these low equipped cars were new and available. He made a call the Jonny sleazeball manager in Danvers. After over an hour to get there they just sold the 2 at that price. When they saw I would not slide to a full priced model they attempted to kick me and my family out. Never seen such an underhanded disregard for the law in my life. When I asked for serial numbers of the 2 sold cars he scoffed and said i don't need that. Got a load of discusting venumous employees to kick me out. I would just assume spit on them than buy something from them. Got to go State and BBB letters to write. Will write to Toyota as well. Don't go near them they smell vial. More
My first new car buying experience, and IRA completely fulfilled my worst expectations. My wife and I went in to look around. We were considering a Highlander, but also a Subaru Forester XT and a Honda fulfilled my worst expectations. My wife and I went in to look around. We were considering a Highlander, but also a Subaru Forester XT and a Honda Pilot. The salesman was very rude and pushy. He treated my wife like a second-class citizen, which annoyed me. IRA pulls tricks like "this deal is good today only" and other such high-pressue tactics. They did a bait-and-switch on me, too. I ended up buying my car there because I got a ridiculously good deal. But I blasted them on their review with Toyota. In return, I got harassing phone calls from Cynthia in the PR department. She did her best to put an IRA spin on everything, and never even had the class to admit that IRA had blown it. (My review was very detailed, and she couldn't refute any of the issues, but just made excuses.) They ended up sending me an apology some four weeks later with a free oil change coupon. Needless to say, there's no way I'm going to let these jokers work on my car. I'd consider buying again just becuase, since they're such high volume sellers, you can get a good price. But be prepared for a high-anxiety experience and go in there swinging! More
