If I could, I would give this dealership a zero. I went to Interstate Toyota to look at a CPO Corolla Cross. The first thing I did was ask to see the vehicle history report. The saleswoman said that I went to Interstate Toyota to look at a CPO Corolla Cross. The first thing I did was ask to see the vehicle history report. The saleswoman said that she would print it out and bring it over. She did not. Instead, she proceeded to bring the car to the front entrance and convince me to take a test drive. Before getting in the front seat, I opened the back door to look at the back seat. 3 of the 4 plastic covers from the LATCH tethers were missing. When I pointed this out to the salesperson, she shrugged it off and mentioned that it is not a big deal…they will deal with it when we get back from the test drive. Then when I got into the car, I noticed that the TPMS light was on…and remained on throughout the test drive. The car only had 10,500 miles on it, Which prompted me to ask why would the TMS light be on? I was told by the sales person that it was on because the car was sitting for a month without being driven on the showroom lot. I also noticed that the drivers seat was a bit dirty… The kind of dirt you expect to see in a car with many more miles on it than this one . During the course of the test drive, I asked if we could drive on the highway so I can check out how the safety features like lane departure warning, and Blindspot monitoring work. I was told that management does not allow the sales associates to go on the highway during test drives That was another “red flag.” When we got back to the dealership, I excused myself to use the restroom. When I came back, the sales associate was not at her desk. She was in the middle of the showroom floor, talking on her cell phone… Smiling and laughing during the conversation. Talk about being unprofessional!!! She had a customer (me) waiting for her…sitting at her desk and she was having a conversation on her cell phone, completely oblivious to the fact that I had returned. Once she did finally returned to the desk about 10 minutes later, I once again asked to see the vehicle history report. Once again, she deflected the question and attempted to change the subject she had a bunch of papers in her hands… Which I suspected, was the vehicle info and the history report, However, after I Asked to see the report for the second time, she turned the papers upside down and kept them near her computer keyboard, so that I could not see them. Then she proceeded to Discuss the price of the car, and when I informed her that I was not prepared to purchase the same day, she mentioned that she would have to speak to her manager to let him know that. A couple of minutes later, she walk back to her desk, accompanied by a man who did not identify himself… I assume he was the manager as he aggressively attempted to ask me what it would take to sell me the car today. I told him I have not even seen the vehicle, history report, and there was a dashboard light on throughout the entire test drive and therefore I needed to see the vehicle history report. He finally showed it to me… And that is when I realized why they were reluctant to show it to me. It was a 2023 Toyota Corolla Cross that had been a minor accident. Had I known that before taking the test drive, it would’ve saved a lot of time. Their time and mine. After I expressed my hesitation to purchase a car with the Carfax report indicates, “accident with another motor vehicle. Minor damage,” The sales person shrugged it off, saying that most Minor damage is only cosmetic and that the vehicle probably just lightly scratched another car in a parking lot. If a dealership is not willing to be transparent and explain what kind of damage a car with 10,000 miles had, then, there is no way I feel comfortable purchasing a vehicle from that dealership. After that response I decided to leave. If a dealership cannot be transparent about “minor” damage, and would not allow me to test drive a car on the highway… Those are two huge red flags. Makes me feel like I cannot trust this dealership. More
