Terrific selection and showroom service undermined by glacial pace of the finance department and the endless, ugly upselling that takes place once you sit down at the desk. glacial pace of the finance department and the endless, ugly upselling that takes place once you sit down at the desk. More

I was referred to a finance manager by their relative. Messaged about a specific vehicle/deal but it wasn't easy to get a response. No problem, they're not a salesperson so probably busy. I head into the dealership on Saturday, meet the individual, they link me up with a salesperson. We check out the car, discuss numbers, a little off but more important I have a trade offer on a vehicle that they won't match. It’s from a place like CarMax so not contingent on buying a car. I tell them let me go sell my vehicle first and then I'll consider your offer. I clarify the importance because I currently have 6 cars to my name, including another Mercedes I picked up a month ago, and having the trade is likely a key factor for the bank (have purchased/leased 5 new cars since the beginning of 2022 so pretty familiar with the process and requirements). Later that day salesman messages about their offer again, I mentioned since I have to wait until Monday to sell my car I'm also checking with the advertised deal they said that nobody is actually doing and couldn't match (not a tactic, I had just sent that request because even with flying to NorCal it would have been cheaper on the same car). That's when he asks if they matched that deal would I sign today? I'm hesitant because of everything I described but I wanted to act in good faith for the match so they didn't feel like I was messing around. I reminded them of the other car situation and if they think we're good send me a credit app. They did. Filled it out. They say we're good. I start seeing emails about the vehicle being added to my MB app, etc. I'm told the salesperson will set up a time to deliver to my house. Few hours later I get a call from finance manager. Says they're going to send me some docusign to sign. But need to wait until Sunday morning to speak to someone at MBFS. Cool, happens, special circumstance. I thought banks aren't open Sunday but I'm sure a finance manager knows better than me. Sunday morning salesman says he can deliver at noon. Awesome. 11:58 I get a message that the finance manager is "still working on it". Fine. Please keep me posted. 2 hours later I'm told they need to wait until Monday to speak to MBFS. Ok. But why tell me Sunday in the first place could have just lead with Monday. Monday is busy, with a side of food poisoning, but by evening I realize that I've gotten 0 communication from the dealership. It's late in the evening didn’t following up. What's another day? Tuesday morning I text the salesman and finance manager. Salesman ghosts it. Finance manager responds a few hours later stating it’s their day off and their finance director is handling it. He would check with her. I don't want to bother him on his day off. Tuesday late evening I get an email that the vehicle was removed from my MB app. Guess I'll be hearing about it in the morning. Wednesday I wait until a little after 10 AM and text the finance manager. Checking if they're back in the office, and checking if I can expect an update today. They respond informing me that MBFS is not moving forward due to... wait for it... too many auto accounts and a recent account open with them. The 2 exact concerns I raised to them in person at the dealership before submitting anything. Now I understand they may have still believed they could push it through. Would have been fine if someone had actually communicated to me "we are facing X and are going to try Y to see if we can still make it work". But the lack of comms (only receiving updates when I reached out) and transparency with how long it took is the main point of frustration. I never heard more from my salesman after Sunday. In the end this vehicle was a want not a need. So the disappointment isn't really in the outcome as opposed to the poor experience leading to the outcome. More
