Pregnant and (Unhappily) Waiting My husband works in automotive advertising and called to set up an appointment for us to see a CRV. He essentially told the dealer that we were coming My husband works in automotive advertising and called to set up an appointment for us to see a CRV. He essentially told the dealer that we were coming to pick a color, buy the car, and leave. This should have been the easiest sale and process ever. It was a rainy day, I know that business was slow when we came in at 6 pm, and we expressed that we hoped to complete this process in just a couple of hours (2 or less) - I am also 8 months pregnant and, as you can imagine, expected to be treated as such. We were told that our vehicle would be in front of the dealership upon arrival. This was not the case. We waited 15 minutes for the vehicle to be brought around and then were essentially forced to undergo an excessively long test drive - even though we said we did not wish/need to do all of that. Upon return to the dealership we selected a color, based on what we were shown on the lot, and waited almost 2 hours FOR THE KEYS TO BE FOUND. After waiting, we were told that that car was actually not available.. we were offered some other options, but honestly, at that point, my pregnant self wanted to leave. My husband convinced me to stay and, luckily, another car in that color was found on the lot - but here's my question, why didn't you know your own inventory well enough to know that there was a second car in that color available. We were finally taken back to fill out paper work - assuming that our trade in vehicle would be taken to be appraised and that the vehicle we were purchasing would be being detailed and prepared to drive off the lot. This did not happen. We waited another hour for the appraisal, for the paperwork, for discussions with the floor manager (who mostly wanted to shoot the breeze with me about being pregnant - INNAPROPRIATE! Clearly, we were unhappy and I was uncomfortable. I did not need a chat from a man who has no idea what being pregnant and that uncomfortable is like.). We were told that we were receiving this vehicle at invoice - FALSE, and we knew it, but we were so over the process, we just wanted to leave. Paperwork ready to go, appraisal finally done, we start to notice that no one else is really in the building anymore; no customers, no staff, AND the lights are being turned off WHILE WE ARE STILL SITTING THERE. Yes, remember I said we arrived at 6. We were in this dealership until PAST closing because these people could not figure out how to set aside their "checklist" of what customer service should look like and see that we were miserable. Finally we are taken to the back to sign the paperwork. Initially, the guy moved quickly, which we appreciated. I literally told him we were tired, hungry, and just ready to go home. And then... he asks if we'd like to see the service and warranty packages. We said no. Let me repeat. We said NO. "Well, I have to go through it anyway." We listened. We said no to each option. We then were forced to sit through the "family and friends" options. So we sat through the exact same explanations twice AFTER we had already said no. I KNOW THIS IS WHERE YOU MAKE YOUR MONEY, BUT WE ALREADY SAID NO. Did you really think that you were going to make a dime off of that kind of treatment to us? After finishing this process, we exited to finally get into our new CRV. There were four people left in the building - me and my husband, our dealer, and the financial guy. While waiting to actually get in the car, the financial guy left. Our dealer then proceeded to ask if he could connect my phone to the car (we're millenials, we can connect our own phones) and explain that they really "thrive on their good reviews" essentially begging us to review him well. My husband said "I'll give you a good review if you just let us go home." Dealer continued to talk, my husband told me to get into the car, and we left. We got home at 11:30. I woke up at 5 the next morning for work. I drove my pretty new CRV, which I do love, and cried upon arriving to work because I was so exhausted and my pregnant body ached from that experience. All in all - I do love my CRV and would 100% recommend the vehicle. I HATED my experience with this dealership. I understand that there are things that need to be done in business to "check your boxes" and for your bosses to make sure you are doing your job. With that being said, you HAVE to know how to read the room. None of the men that we worked with were at all interested, really, in how are experience was going and if we were happy. As a customer service representative, it is unacceptable to allow your customers to leave feeling that discouraged and frustrated, even after getting the product that they want. *Post our experience, correspondence with representatives from this dealership continued to be frustrating and unhelpful.
