I had to come to a different dealership than where I typically use since I am military and have moved in the last couple of years. I went to Herson's because I had a less than favorable experience with the Ourisman Honda dealership around the corner from my home when I went for a simple oil change, so decided to venture up the road a bit in hopes of better customer service. The car buying experience itself wasn't bad- a little rushed when it came time to sign the paperwork (after I had spent 5+ hours there, so not even like I came in close to closing time). The issues began when I took my car back to get a few accessories installed. At the urging of my sales person, I opted for the red interior illumination lights. Very pleased with that decision, or at least I would have been had I actually gotten them. When I scheduled the installation appointment, I asked how long it would take to install. The response I got was "not long, maybe 2-3 hours." I let them know I had a ton of errands to run, they said no problem, you can have a loaner car while we work on yours. Done. I show up Saturday morning to drop off, they call to arrange the car. I show back up after about an hour and a half... they ask what I'm doing there, as it will take about 4 hours total for my car to be done. Mouth drops open. NOT at all what I was told. Strike 1. Oh well, I make it work. I then get a call while I'm waiting "We can't find the lights. Are you sure someone called to tell you they were in?" Uh, yes, because I wouldn't have scheduled the appointment if I knew there was even the POSSIBILITY of you all wasting my time. They keep looking... "we don't have the lights. Are you sure someone from here called you?" (No, it must have been someone pretending to work in your service department who knew my phone number, what I ordered, and that I was waiting for install). After about 5 minutes of "cen't find it" and "well keep looking," lights located. Strike 2. 6 hours later, everything is FINALLY done. Driving home, I'm excited to see the lights, but can't see them because it's light outside. I pull up to my home and look at the receipt (which I hadn't done at the dealership as I had already paid and had a zero balance)- the sheet says blue lights. I ordered red. I look a bit more closely and yep, glowing blue lights in the floorwells. I call Honda to let them know hey, I ordered blue, you all installed red, hopefully a quick fix... The service desk looks at their paperwork, transfer me to sales because their order sheets all say blue. The person I talk to in sales says "you must have made a mistake, you ordered blue." Uhm, my car is red. I wanted red. Why would I have ordered blue? My sales agent who had worked with me (who actually did his absolute best during this fiasco, bless his heart) pulls my paperwork, verifies that we ordered red. Strike 3. Starting to doubt this dealership. No worries, he calls and verifies that they have the red lights, they will send those and reinstall. Several days later, update is that they still waiting to hear when the lights will get delivered. A a week after the wrong lights were installed I get a call... "Bad news, they aren't making the red lights for your model, despite the fact that they are listed in the Honda accessories book." Then "Wait, nevermind, we are going to get the red ones". The NEXT DAY (car purchased on 3/23, we are now on 4/11) "nevermind, they don't have red." All right, then. I ask to have the lights uninstalled and have my money refunded, which Drew quickly agrees to. My schedule's so crazy that I can't make it in for several weeks to get the lights uninstalled, part of the issue being when I called to schedule an appointment being told "we can only do that weekdays 9-5". I finally get them to agree to a weekend. Lights get uninstalled on Sat 5/3, a month and a half after this fiasco began. Strikes 4 thru however many we are on now. Before I came for the appointment, I asked if I needed to do anything to get refunded... which in my mind was going to be in the form of the initial payment, so back on my credit card. Lights got uninstalled (took about an hour longer than promised) then I was supposed to get my tank filled up and exterior car washed "for the trouble" which took an additional hour and 45 minutes. When I ask about the refund, plan is that they will cut me a check, that should take 3-5 business days then mailed to me. Simple enough, I live down the street and it literally takes a day to mail something from them to me. After 3 weeks and still no check in the mail, I contacted my sales agent to ask if he could check on the status of the refund for me. He told me that the check request was approved over a month ago and had been sent to the address on file four days earlier- this was on Friday 5/30, meaning the check had been sent out on Monday 5/26 (Memorial Day). I decided to sit tight for a couple more days just in case there was in fact a delay in the mail, though I literally had received something from Herson's on 5/30 that was sent on 5/29. After 4 more days with nothing in the mail I called to speak with the general manager, who transferred me to a cashier. That individual says "Oh the check is sitting on my desk right now and is for xxx amount. I'll put it in the mail today." Strike out. In addition to poor customer service and lack of response to customer concerns, the individuals at Herson's flat out lied. I will not spend a dime at Herson's Honda ever again and if anyone asks my opinion of them I will be brutally honest with my opinion after this horrible experience. More
WOW! Blew my mind! When my wife and I arrived we were greeted at the door by a friendly salesman named Matt. Since we already did our research, and had visited two other dealerships (that we disliked), We already knew the exact car we wanted. We chatted briefly at the door before we moved over to Matt's desk. Before even proceeding with looking at the car or talking numbers, Matt offered us both coffee or water, and really made us feel at home. We made small talk once again, then Matt went and grabbed the exact car we wanted. We went on a quick test drive, then headed back inside to talk business. The sales manager George then came over to introduce himself, and once again offered us beverages or snacks! The way they presented their numbers was extremely helpful, and we were able to agree on terms in under 15 minutes! Not only did they match Criswell's price, but they beat it by $500! Plus, they gave me 2 years/24,000 miles of 100% maintenance! The entire buying process was incredible, and Matt certainly broke to age old stigma about Car Salesman that they're all xxxx bags. When all was said and done, we were in and out in well under two hours! Based on the previous reviews, I would have to imagine that they've replaced the bad apples with some absolute GEMS! Who knows, maybe I got lucky, but if you're reading this and are thinking about buying a Honda, go see Matt Emery at Herson's Honda! ps. I referred my neighbor a couple weeks ago and ended up receiving a call from Matt the next day offering me my choice off All Season Floormats, Cargo Tray, or Sunroof Visor for free because of my referral. This is hands down the most honest, friendliest and nicest car salesman I have ever dealt with. The sales manager was also very nice and accommodating. They gave us more than fair price for our trade-in. The buying process for both cars we purchased from Herson's Honda was the easiest and most relaxing car buying experience I have ever had. I contacted Percy the day before I went to purchase the car and told him exactly what I wanted and when I arrived the car ready to go. Test drive, paperwork, training on our new Honda and home in my garage, all in just under three hours. If I remember correctly, our first purchase was done the same way in just over two hours. We are very thankful to Percy and the sales manager at Herson's Honda Rockville for a wonderful buying experience, we will do business in the future. G. Floyd More

They said they had 3, so I said great and came in. We found it in the computer and started paperwork. We had been to Criswell in Germantown earlier that day but they didn't have the car on the lot. They have the best rating on dealerrated, btw, almost a flawless score and now I see why. Should have gone with them. Anyway, Herson's had me to paperwork, ran my credit, came back almost $100 higher a month than Criswell. They wouldn't drop their price even a little until I showed them the USAA car buying service certificate and they had to drop the car price about $4,000 off of what they were trying to sell it for. (Criswell, by the way, was quoting us at that USAA price below invoice even before we showed them the certificate. Honest and a good deal). After we got through getting the rate, monthly payment, and I got my credit ran, I waited. We made small talk for over an hour while the car (2 traffic lights away at the other lot) was brought over. A car came over, I said I wanted to see it. While they were getting the financial paperwork ready I noticed it was an auto, not a stick shift. We waited OVER AN HOUR AGAIN for someone to come back and tell us that they were all mislabeled and there were no stick shifts. We walked. Don't tell us you have a car you don't, try to way overcharge and then fight us on a price another dealer (and USAA) said they could do, and try to either sell me a car I didn't want or one that didn't exist. Another dealer showed us the difference between an E and an F in the vin denotes manual or automatic. At least one person in the many hands the car passed through should have caught any mistake like that before they tried to sell it to me. The other dealer who told me this thinks they were going to try to stick me with an automatic the whole time. He might be right, but this wasn't the only thing that left a bad taste in my mouth. I will NEVER trust them to even ATTEMPT to take business from me, a family member, or friend EVER AGAIN. There are too many car dealers in the area to waste ever giving them a second chance. (I did love Criswell Germantown, but ended up buying at Bethesda Ourisman because they had the same car the same day. I wouldn't hesitate to buy a car from either of these two dealers again. I will be writing a review praising Ourisman as well) More

I drove away in the car I wanted at a price I knew was great -- without having to endure or go to battle against sales pressure. Anthony and Noah asked me what I was looking for and listened to my answers, which included low price and a low-end model. Though it was a busy Friday evening, Anthony quickly got a car ready for me to test drive. He made sure I understood the car's design and operations and features, but instead of the canned sales-talk I'd experienced elsewhere, Anthony focused on aspects of the vehicle he knew were important to me -- because he'd been listening and was respectful. He did not try to distract me or push for upgrades. When we returned to the dealership I told Anthony I intended to buy a Civic but had to test drive a Corolla before finalizing my decision -- and that I would probably be back shortly. Again differentiating themselves from other dealerships, instead of pressuring me Anthony and Noah respected my decision and assured me that they would get me the deal I wanted when I returned. Which I did, about 30 minutes later. They welcomed me back, asked my opinions of the Corolla, and began processing my Civic purchase. I'd come prepared with pricing information and told Anthony what I was looking to pay, which I knew was aggressive but also possible. Noah and Anthony talked with me respectfully and honestly without the usual back-and-forth "best I can do" games. We worked through the options and trade-offs and together came to a deal that I am very happy with. All quite extraordinary and reason to compel others to go to Herson's and work with Anthony and Noah. They provide a rare opportunity to experience and reward genuine customer service. More
For the A12 service of my new car, this dealer charged me 75% more than Shockley Honda estimated for the same job. For our second car, we needed to fix an oil leak. The oil started to leak after this dealer made 95K service and other repairs for big bucks, so they promised to fix it for free. We brought it to them 3 times, and it was still leaking. In conclusion, this dealer left me no choice but not to come ever again. More
Bought a 2012 Honda Civic HF in December of 2012. The car has an obnoxious and off sounding clunk when the brake is quickly released--a sound that I did not notice when test driving. I brought the car i car has an obnoxious and off sounding clunk when the brake is quickly released--a sound that I did not notice when test driving. I brought the car in to have that fixed and they told me that the sound is a normal sound. I have never heard such a sound on a car before. I am utterly upset that I have a new car with this issue. It is even more upsetting that I have to spend a great deal of time trying to figure out this problem when the dealership should be doing this. If the sound is normal, Herson's was not upfront with me about this issue. Being in contact since this purchase I have learned that many Civic owners do not have this problem. So, it is incredibly upsetting that Herson's service is unwilling to work with me to fix the problem. More
I made several trips to Herson's and other local dealerships with the intention of purchasing a new car. I left several times not due to any poor experience, but to keep shopping around. Upon each r dealerships with the intention of purchasing a new car. I left several times not due to any poor experience, but to keep shopping around. Upon each return the staff at Herson's was willing to spend time answering all my questions again. I went on several different test drives on more than one occasion and each time again was treated as a valued customer. I was given a great deal in the car, purchased an additional warranty but was not oversold with unnecessary add ons. I have had the cars regular service completed at the dealership and the sales staff makes sure I am happy with my purchase and all is well. I have recommended the dealership to two close friends adn woudl continue to do so. More
