I bought my Clubman and asked for an auto-dimming mirror to be installed. I picked up my car, got a 20 minute run-down of my car's features (including that the "info" feature navigated through the turn-sign to be installed. I picked up my car, got a 20 minute run-down of my car's features (including that the "info" feature navigated through the turn-signal handle on the steering column should be ignored, which I found through reading the manual contains all sorts of interesting features that I can customize), and it was not checked to make sure that the options I had paid for were installed. After a few days I realized that the $285. auto-dimming mirror was not installed, no one had noticed. When I filled out a survey complaining about the cursory, and incompetent service, the salesman called me up within an hour to chew me out on my replies. I arranged my schedule to go back another day and have the auto-dimming mirror installed. Some time after I got my Mini back, the auto-dimming mirror seemed to not be working. I called and arranged again for it be be fixed. At the dealership I was told by the service manager that it never could have been retro-fitted without costing $4,000, I should never have been told it could, and I had to have the manual mirror re-installed in my car. I was told I would get my $285 returned. I received a check for only $250 yesterday. Not only does this require yet another call from me, but I have lost about 8 hours of my time dealing with this. Once you put a down payment down on a car at herb Chambers Mini, don't expect to be treated well. More

I like that he is extremely knowledgeable about the product line, that he patiently reviews the options as many times as I need to hear about them, and offers helpful suggestions without pressuring me to make a decision. Whether visiting Herb Chambers for sales or service throughout the past six years, I have always found everyone to be very friendly, efficient, and accommodating, and that is why I am a very satisfied repeat customer. I had a great experience in purchasing my Mini at Herb Chambers. Being the spoiled brat that I have the tendency to be, I convinced my husband that our 2009 Mini Cooper Clubman didn't have the get up and go I was looking for. I wanted the S version! So he indulged me. We went to Herb Chambers one Saturday with the intention of buying a new one and met Rich Tran. Rich was unbelievable. He had the type of personality that made you feel like you'd known him forever. I typically despise the whole car buying process because I liken car salesmen to someone that sells snake oil. Rich spent hours talking with us about what was important and what was less important when buying our new car. It was clear he had a true appreciation and love of Minis. By the time we were finished, the decision was apparent. The incentives Mini was offering at the time made it worth finding a car that was already built. Rich was patient and ran us list after list until we found our perfect "baby". When it was delivered to Herb Chambers and we were ready to take possession, he spent a solid hour going over all the new (and improved) features we now had. I love our new car, but frankly, it doesn't matter how much you love something, if the person selling it rubs you the wrong way or puts you off, you're not going to buy it from that person/dealer. I actually spoke to Rich today, and after gushing about how I completely loved the new car, told him the only way my husband may ever get to drive the Mini is if we buy another one. More
The inital sale was very good. I wanted to buy a car, Ian wanted to sell me one. After I agreed to buy the car and sigend the paperwork, service deteriorated. Problems that I encountered included: 1. Being assured that an extra part that I requested would be installed on my car when I came to pick it up- it wasn't. Even though I made an appointment to pick up my car, when I got there, I had to wait an hour for them to get the car registered and such and the part was not installed and no one knew about it. (my sales guy was not there when I picked it up though he made the pu appoitnment with me...Also, My car couldnt be inspected because of some kind of mileage issue, so I had to get it inspected myself. 3. When I brought my car in to get the part installed, I waited over an hour for the shuttle service to pick me up and I kept being told that the driver would be here any minute now... 4. Upon picking up my car from the installation, I waited another 40 minutes and was told that the car wasnt quite ready because it was being vaccumed and washed- It wasn't and I could tell because the dust from the street was still on the car. Overall, this dealer needs to focus on keeping the customer happy once the sale is made, not just on closing the deal. The people are nice but the customer service is inconsistent and fragmented. When my mom and I walked into the dealership, I knew I wanted a MINI but I had never really driven one. We approached Richard, and boy were we lucky! Richard was by far the best salesman I've ever had; he wanted a MINI but I had never really driven one. We approached Richard, and boy were we lucky! Richard was by far the best salesman I've ever had; he went above and beyond and beyond and beyond again. He wasn't pushy and he was very easy to work with. Compared to some of the other dealerships I went to, Richard knew everything about these cars from knowledge AND experience, and didn't have to look at a single brochure once. I was floored when Rich found the PERFECT used MINI Cooper S for me, for less than I was expecting to pay with all the features I wanted. We went on a test drive and he explained every single gadget to me, and when I bought my MINI he sat down with me in it and made sure I didn't have any more questions. Rich also made my MINI his priority to get the body work fixed in a timely fashion, and offered to drop the car off with me if it was more of a convienence for me. Oh! And the body work came out gorgeous! My MINI looks brand new! Rich also offered to put the bonnet stripes on it for me if I ever buy them! I couldn't have been happier with this experience, and I will be buying all my future MINI's with Richard Tran at Herb Chambers MINI of Boston. :D More

I can't even begin to tell you all of the problems I have had at Herb Chambers Mini of Boston - just don't go there - don't buy your car there and don't have it serviced there. I have to write more so here are some of my issues: 1) when I came in on a Sat for a scheduled appt, they were short handed. Instead of calling and rescheduling, they let me drive the 40 miles anyway. So I shortened the list of 7 or 8 items down to 3 because I had somewhere to be that evening and could not stay all day and wait. The idiot decided to try and fix some of the other items anyway (note that I said "try") and I missed my engagement - he basically held my car hostage when I told him "I WANT IT BACK NOW!". He also pressured me to set up a follow up appt and I said no that I needed to check my calendar. He set one up anyway and didn't tell me. I got an automated email a few days before the appt and I wasn't even in town - I was on vacation! 2) I called to make a follow up appt and had to leave a voicemail - nobody ever called me back. 3) I finally got the car an appt and went and spent all day waiting the Friday after Thanksgiving. They supposedly fixed everything. But they didn't they made it worse. 4) Back again to fix the one they made worse. Dropped it off on a Friday night and picked up a loaner since I was not going to wait all day again. Someone was supposed to call me the next day to discuss the issue. Nobody ever called. I emailed them and was told that this issue was not an issue, but just the design of the car. So there's ONE person at the dealer that knows this issue is not really an issue - I've had it in THREE TIMES and now find out - oh you have to live with water POURING into the car when you open the door or the window and it has been raining... Going to sell the d@mn car... More

Ian is one of a few Salesmen I've worked with that had made the whole experience very comfortable and made me a very happy customer at the end. There was no rush from his part at all. He got the time to get to know us a bit before taking us out for a test drive. When we weren't really impressed with regular MINI, he took us out for a second test drive on the Cooper S. He was very diligent in getting us a match to our specifications. Even the Sales Manager wasn't giving us any high attitudes so many relatively high end car dealerships obtained and didn't rush us into making a decision at all. We did the trade through Cash for Clunker as most recent buyers did. We were anxious to have our car delivered as well, but Ian was very patience with us throughout the whole process. He'll return our calls or emails almost immediately. Informed us when all the paper works were done and send (the manager had stayed up until 2am to get all the paper work through). The only frustrating part is we didn't check all the paper work and that had delayed the approval process. Overall, the experience for great and excellent. I would recommend everyone to contact Ian Miller if you are interested in getting a MINI Cooper from Herb Chambers. More
