Herb Chambers acts like an old-fashioned, pre-Internet dealership. Every other dealership I've dealt with e-mailed me good, low, invoice-based prices, or gave me them over the phone. They didn't demand th dealership. Every other dealership I've dealt with e-mailed me good, low, invoice-based prices, or gave me them over the phone. They didn't demand that I be in the showroom, or that I be ready to buy that day, or insist that any price they give expires if I leave the showroom. They just gave me a price in writing, upfront, no fuss, no arguing. Herb Chambers Honda, in contrast, wouldn't discuss prices unless I was in the showroom (which I was) and ready to buy immediately (which I wasn't). They apparently don't want to be comparison shopped. Well, that may be in their best interest, but it's definitely not in mine. I've visited Herb Chambers every time I was car shopping over the last 35 years, hoping they would have a better attitude, and I've always walked out and bought elsewhere. Why on Earth would I want to deal with secretive salesmen (and their managers) who restrict my shopping style, when all the other dealers are being open, upfront, competitive, and accommodating? More

I knew exactly what he wanted and the price I/he was willing to pay. I spoke with Kathy who was pleasant and well informed. She had the car in stock and told me that my son and I could stop by for a test drive on Monday afternoon. My son first car a Honda Civic. I decided this was the weekend I would shop for a car it has been over nine years since I purchased my last car and I was apprehensive about going out alone. I headed out with a friend. We had a few dealerships in mind and spent some time at each dealership. It is interesting how they operate and sometime don’t take woman as serious buyers. The one I was most impressed with was Herb Chambers Honda. When we walked in the door we were approached almost immediately even though the dealership was busy on Saturday afternoon they made sure to least say “hello” almost immediately. Unlike the other dealership which I visited on Saturday and will not mentioned it took a crane to get the GM out of his seat until I asked him if he wanted to sell a car or not this was after visiting Herb Chambers. At Herb Chambers they take the time to explain the car and its features. They want to make sure it is the car you like and one that you will be happy with. Every thing seemed to be falling into place I was waiting for their pitch. What can I do to make you buy today, however, that did not happen. What happen was the GM said when you finish shopping today and you made you decision let me know. They never bad mouth their completion, just stated the facts. I was so soured at the other dealership for their poor miss management of customer service and please with everything at Herb Chambers Boston that I called later that evening and said you just sold yourself a CR-V. They stand out in the crowd and I shopped around and did my homework. They are professional; their pricing is good and fit right into my budget. From start to finish it was smooth. The transaction was flawless and I can not wait to experience their service department as I have heard nothing but good things about that. It was late Wednesday afternoon; however, I needed my car inspection sticker. I thought I would drive into the service department, although late I was greeted with a smile. The service department tagged my car almost immediately and brought into the back. While I was waiting I decided to shop around in the showroom. Sales guy, of course, did not know I was only there for a sticker and greeted me promptly. When I mentioned I was not here to buy they did not dismiss me instead they took the time to get to know me. Because of that conversation I had with the sales guy (I think his name was Jose) I probably will be back for a new car in summer. There was no pressure or crazy sales talk. Just friendly informative talk. Before I knew it my car was ready. Much to my surprise they even cleaned my car. I thought what a nice touch! I most definitely will be back to this dealership for sales and service. I highly recommend this dealership. More
My boyfriend and I went shopping for a car over the weekend. I felt the car buying experience to rather pleasant. We dealt with several sales people. Drove a few cars and settled on a new Accord. Honda Service - I was speaking with Mike today regarding service on my Honda. The service needed is going to take a couple of hours. Mike suggested that I leave the car for the day and he would arrange fo service on my Honda. The service needed is going to take a couple of hours. Mike suggested that I leave the car for the day and he would arrange for me to have a rental car for me. This would work well as it would not interfere with my day and I could return at the end of the day and the would be ready. I thought this was great customer service. When I arrived the day to have my service done the rental car was ready for me to drive away with no waiting. When I return to pick up my car there was no waiting on that end too! Excellent customer service. I will always go to Herb Chambers Service Department for all my concerns which are few and far between. Thanks again Mike More
i brought my car here for service....biggest mistake ever. they charge an OBSCENE amount of money, and actually returned my car to me in very dangerous condition. within five minutes of driving my car ever. they charge an OBSCENE amount of money, and actually returned my car to me in very dangerous condition. within five minutes of driving my car home from the dealership, it broke down and i had to get it towed. obviously, they did not do whatever they said they did. i was lucky this didn't happen on a highway or it could have been much worse. the customer service is okay, but the actual service and technicians are not doing their job....i am appalled that the vallet allowed me to take my car home. i cannot emphasize enough how horrible this experience was. do not patronize this establishment!! if you do, be VERY careful...don't let them rip you off and endanger your life. More
