To sum up the service department in our experience: Dishonest, gaslighting, often careless. Our $80k+ 2016 XC90 has had over $51,000 in no-fault repairs at Hendrick Volvo during our ownership. The v Dishonest, gaslighting, often careless. Our $80k+ 2016 XC90 has had over $51,000 in no-fault repairs at Hendrick Volvo during our ownership. The vehicle has never been in an accident. Early into our ownership, Hendrick Volvo pulled a bait and switch with our factory warrantied XC90. We attempted to extend our Volvo factory warranty with Philip McCabe. He recommended we wait on purchasing an extended warranty and (knowingly?) gave an incorrect out-of-warranty date. When we came in to purchase the warranty at an agreed upon date, the Volvo-backed warranty had expired and our only option was, conveniently, a Hendrick Volvo branded extended warranty. We purchased it as we had no other comparable option, and the dealership gave no alternatives. Philip’s action made it impossible to take advantage of Volvo’s 10 year / unlimited mileage warranty. I’m sure he received a healthy commission. We’ve brought this vehicle in for service or repair literally scores of times. Too often, a new stain, ding, scratch, or tear appears on the vehicle when in the dealership’s care. If you take your vehicle here, it is *imperative* that you protect yourself and take video inside and out every time, or you’ll inevitably be met with new damage from a careless tech, and a gaslighting service person or manager will tell you the gash in your wood trim, for example, “looks old” and will not be addressed while the tears in the leather from the same incident and clearly related, will be. We have experienced stained headliners, torn leather, scratched wood and other damaged interior surfaces, scratches on bumpers, and countless oily hand marks all over the interior. Sometimes they admit fault and attempt to repair these, more often they do not. As of April 6, 2023, we have had our vehicle for 3 weeks total in 2023. It is currently at the dealership for leather repairs for irreparable damage done by their service techs during another repair. The rest of the year, outside these three weeks, it has been at Hendrick Volvo for repairs. We are gaslit when there is an issue with the vehicle. “We don’t usually fix these issues under warranty, but for you, we will” or “this is an insurance issue, not a manufacturing defect.” The vehicle has been meticulously maintained, purchased at, and exclusively serviced at this dealership, yet it barely runs. The early engine rebuild ($10k repair), suspension ($5k, multiple repairs), A/C ($15k repair), supercharger rebuild ($3k), coolant leaks, electrical issues from a “clogged” sunroof drain ($11k+, a recurring issue on this vehicle, sometimes covered under warranty, often not. Nowhere in the scheduled maintenance paperwork are these drains mentioned and there is currently a class action lawsuit being filed for this very issue) - these repairs, when approved, are presented as “favors” rather than what they are - clearly laid out, in their paperwork, warranty repairs. We have never brought in the vehicle for anything that did not end up being a true issue - my wife and I are honest people, yet Eric McCabe, service manager, is condescending and as much as called us liars when new damage to the vehicle was reported. Any complaint without irrefutable proof will be dismissed. Expecting the dealership to stand by their work rather than maximizing profits and minimizing taking blame is naive - you’ll find that they will take their own convenient stories over the customer’s word, until you present proof. Disappointing, but it is a business, after all. More
Great communication and quick return of my vehicle. Correspondence was easy and the service advisors explained everything to me. Correspondence was easy and the service advisors explained everything to me. More
