I used the Sam's Truecar site and found a used 21' Santa Fe at Harbor Hyundai that came back with an offer of $22,412 including taxes and fees. I emailed the salesman what my offer from Truecar was, and asked if there were any dealer adds, clear coat, or protection packages. He emailed me back the following, "We do have dealer installed anti-theft, Permaplate Paint and Interior Protection, 3M door edge and door handle cup protective coverings and lifetime battery ($4496)." $4496 in dealer adds, and this is supposed to be a reputable dealer. I explained that Truecar doesn't show any of these bogus fees. This was his response, "I'll take your concern to our management team. If you do not see value in protecting a vehicle you would be purchasing, then I can understand, but none of the protections we offer are bogus, they are items that many of our clients see the value in protecting the vehicle and prevent theft loss." Are you kidding me with that garbage, $4496. If they were honest, wouldn't they offer these packages as optional. Of course not, they want to trick unaware car buyers, one of which could be your grandmother. Ask them to verify their cost on these add ons. Completely unethical, stay far, far away from this dealership. More
