Our founder Lee Hamer started this company on April 19, 1939 as an automobile general service and repair station on the corner of Sepulveda and San Fernando Mission Boulevards in Mission Hills. With your help and continued patronage Hamer Toyota has continued to grow into the state of the art Automotive Dealership we know today!
Mr. Hamer has won many awards for his charitable contributions to the community as well as for his impeccable reputation for honesty, integrity, and fairness. Lee was very active in the San Fernando Valley including the development of youth, sports and welfare projects that have greatly benefited our community. He was an active community leader in the Mission Hills Chamber of Commerce, served two terms as President of Los Angeles Fire Commission in the 60s and was a founding member of Holy Cross Medical Center Century Club. Lee was the recipient of the Fernando Award in 1989. The most prestigious award that can be earned, for philanthropic and charitable works.
Over the years he has been an automotive dealer for Hudson, Studebaker, Mercedes, Citroen, Volvo, MG, Triumph, Fiat, Renault, Borgward and Datsun. In July of 1965 we became an Exclusively Toyota Dealership. Mr. Hamer sold an average of about 10 cars a month back then. Today the Dealership average is closer to 500 cars a month and we are among the top 3% of Toyota Dealers in the nation.
Lee Hamer passed away November 15, 1995.

Have been buying cars from Steve for over 20yrs (5 vehicles total). Would drive from IE out to Hamer now from Elk Grove (Sacramento) to Hamer. Steve makes things as smooth as possible hassle free a vehicles total). Would drive from IE out to Hamer now from Elk Grove (Sacramento) to Hamer. Steve makes things as smooth as possible hassle free and goes out of his way to make things happen. ie. Pick me up from the airport to pick up my vehicles. My parents are in their 70's and needed a car. Most salesman would look at them and find them slow or unattached from the current technologies of today. They would answer the most basic of questions a salesman would look at them and find them slow or unattached from the current technologies of today. They would answer the most basic of questions and move on, cause who wants to explain parking assist, pre-collision detection, blind spot monitor, to mention a few of the many features of the Sienna that my parents were looking to buy. To be taken seriously and respected was exactly what Steve gave to our buying experience. He was honest from the beginning, and had a mutual respect for my parents answering my mom's questions and explaining the different features. He never once lost his patience or tried to strong arm a sell by saying "these cars sell fast so make a decision or loose your chance". When working with my mom and me he gave his attention and time to us, never rushing us out the door or giving us the feeling that we were wasting his time. It is a business, but Steve was the example that there can still be decency in how business is done. More
