Our founder Lee Hamer started this company on April 19, 1939 as an automobile general service and repair station on the corner of Sepulveda and San Fernando Mission Boulevards in Mission Hills. With your help and continued patronage Hamer Toyota has continued to grow into the state of the art Automotive Dealership we know today!
Mr. Hamer has won many awards for his charitable contributions to the community as well as for his impeccable reputation for honesty, integrity, and fairness. Lee was very active in the San Fernando Valley including the development of youth, sports and welfare projects that have greatly benefited our community. He was an active community leader in the Mission Hills Chamber of Commerce, served two terms as President of Los Angeles Fire Commission in the 60s and was a founding member of Holy Cross Medical Center Century Club. Lee was the recipient of the Fernando Award in 1989. The most prestigious award that can be earned, for philanthropic and charitable works.
Over the years he has been an automotive dealer for Hudson, Studebaker, Mercedes, Citroen, Volvo, MG, Triumph, Fiat, Renault, Borgward and Datsun. In July of 1965 we became an Exclusively Toyota Dealership. Mr. Hamer sold an average of about 10 cars a month back then. Today the Dealership average is closer to 500 cars a month and we are among the top 3% of Toyota Dealers in the nation.
Lee Hamer passed away November 15, 1995.

Steve is amazing. This is the second car he has helped our family buy. He goes above and beyond to get us the best deal. A lot of car sales men care more about the commission instead of the customer. I came in with my dad to look around for the right truck about 3-4 weeks ago & that’s when we met Steve. Right away he gave off such genuine and positive energy. Unfortunately they didn’t have the truck my about 3-4 weeks ago & that’s when we met Steve. Right away he gave off such genuine and positive energy. Unfortunately they didn’t have the truck my dad wanted at the time so Steve did not try to sell us something else- he honored what we wanted and made it a point to make us feel seen & heard. Yesterday my dad and I went back to Hamer to meet with Steve and turned out they had a few of the trucks my dad was looking for. Steve made the entire process so easy and hassle free. He was patient with our process of understanding numbers/dealership talk and really did his best to help us understand. He kept reminding us that he would only sell if it was truly what we wanted and if it made my dad happy. By the end of the deal my dad said “people like Steve are the reason people come back”. I leased my Toyota Camry from NoHo, but once my lease ends I’ll be coming back to Hamer to work with Steve! More
