Awesome Experience All Around I had a great experience at Charles Barker Toyota. I worked with Bernard Turner on pricing a new Toyota Sienna. We got the payments to where we need I had a great experience at Charles Barker Toyota. I worked with Bernard Turner on pricing a new Toyota Sienna. We got the payments to where we needed to be. He also told us about a lease return with 25000 miles on it. We worked the numbers and they came out great. We bought the used van. When we sat down with Chris the finance guy we got him to give us a 6 year 100,000 mile warranty. We got it all for the same price as a brand new one but a better warranty. The van had a few paint issues and two bad tires. Bernard had them put 2 new tires on and fix all of the paint defects and not just the big ones. To top it all off they gave us a loaner car for 2 days while the paint was getting fixed and it didn't cost me a dime!!! I highly recommend Charles Barker to anyone. They worked with us when another dealer wanted to jerk us around. Go to Charles Barker!!!! Talk to Bernard you won't be disappointed!!!!!! More

However, my experience with having my 2011 Toyota Camry XLE has been exceptional! Just had a new key fob programmed and the radiator flushed/coolant replaced. The estimated price (I thought) was the standard market price that you see at dealerships, but when it was time to pay, I noticed that they used a coupon code (not provided by me) and cut the key fob programming price in half. Mr. Fred Phillips (the Manager) explained that the programming job was not as difficult as he originally thought. Talk about honesty, I would have paid full price based on the estimate with no questions asked. That is the honest and exceptional service that I have been looking for. I am very pleased that I gave them a chance to prove their reviews wrong. Lastly, the service department didn't ask me to write this review. As many of you have heard from other dealership service departments, they tell you that you will receive a call and anything less than outstanding is a failure; not with Charles Barker. I am writing this solely on my experience with their service. In closing, Charles Barker Toyota has me as a customer and when I am ready to replace my Toyota, they will be my first stop. We worked with Mike Cohen and have to express that he was the best overall car salesman we have ever worked with. We buy cars with relative frequency-every 2 or 3 years. We had recently got a new dog and started wondering if an SUV would be better for us as, due to the size of our new dog, we could not travel in our regular cars with our dogs AND others. We very casually started looking around and checked out cars at Mercedes, BMW, Lexus, Acura, Audi, Volvo, Hyundai and s few others. We have to say that it was Mike Cohen's that made us jump off the fence and actually purchase a vehicle. We had a lot of specifications for our new/used car and he listened patiently to everything. He knew that we did not know if we were ready to get a new car and were just looking around. However, this did not make him treat as as lesser than any other customer. He was incredibly patient and understanding. We had our dog with us, and he was not at all bothered by this. He even brought us a bottle of water and a cup for our dog to drink out of! Mike spent about 4-5 hours on a Saturday with us looking over about 4 different types of cars. We test drove 3 of them. He was never short with us. He was never pushy. He never seemed annoyed. He was knowledgeable-and whatever he did not know-he admitted (instead of making something up) and followed through on getting us the answer. He was INCREDIBLY personable and genuine. We were clearly working with someone who came across as a trustworthy person- not the stereotypical image of a car salesman. At the end of the day, we walked away to think about things. He allowed us to leave without the stress inducing, very uncomfortable, awkwardly high pressure act. He gave us his card and asked that we contact him if we were interested. Well, the very next day, we decided to buy one of the cars Mike had showed us. We gave him a call on his cell phone to let him know- something we never would have bothered to do before- but we wanted to make sure he got the commission on any car we bought. He did not answer,but called back five minutes later to let us know that the dealership was closing in ten minutes (he knew we lived ~30 min away). This saved us some frustration we would have had otherwise!! The next day, we gave him a heads up when we were on our way in. We ended up getting a great deal on the car. AnAmazing deal really. We probably we have tried to haggle a bit more too- but Mike was such a real person that we saw him as another human who also worked for a living- not someone who was just trying to pull the wool over our eyes. Maybe we could have gotten the c ar for a little less, maybe not- it was already an incredible deal as it was. The point is the we dropped our own hard act because of the person we were working with. We did not intend on buying a car that day. We remain pretty firm that we probably wouldn't have if we had not worked with Mike. In a world full of automated customer service and fast,hard sells- working with a sincere person such as Mike is refreshing. He is truly an asset to this dealership. Of note, everyone else was also very friendly; but, Mike Cohen alone made this sale. More

Got a quote for a new Toyota Tacoma from Charles Barker Toyota. Took it to Priority Toyota in Chesapeake to see if they could meet or beat their price. Called Charles Barker back and spoke with the manager, Curt Carter. I told him I was at Priority Toyota and they matched their price but if they threw in a tow hitch, I would go with them. Curt was very rude and said, "I can't believe you took the hard work my salesmen did over to Priority and basically handed it to them. I just can't believe you did that." EXCUSE ME!! Isn't that what you do when you are trying to get the absolute best deal on a new car??!! You go from dealership to dealership and check out their prices. I'm not going to go into the first dealership I walk in and immediately purchase something. Buying a new car is a big thing and I want to check all my avenues. I just couldn't believe the way Curt talked to me. I've never written a review of anything, but I felt that this was important for others to hear. And the sad thing is, this is their MANAGEMENT!! I was a loyal customer, but not anymore. Service and attitude of the organization is sliding. Case in point, when original purchased the vehicle, one week later sensor lights came on. CB Toyota's solutions, turned it off, and stated, tighten your gas cap. Although, I have been tightening the gas cap, lights continuously come on, returned the vehicle back, and the diagnosis was three major sensor lights require replacement, but get this, I needed to shell out $1,400 for repairs. During another incident, they lost my keys and decided to give me lip services....Never again will I let these guys touch my vehicle....I was loyal customer until you pissed it away. 26 Year Navy Veteran. Went in for oil change and tune up for up coming road trip. Next day started trip, checked oil at gas station. They did not even fill it half way full of oil. Needed another qt!!! This is the biggest thing!!! They checked my newly replaced air filter, but they did not seal it correctly with the latch. For the past three months, my 4 runner has been sucking dirty air. Really dirty air. I called and came by their location today and showed them what they had done. Get this. There service manger Mr. Bush, said he has never heard of any problems with cars/engines that suck in dirty air!!! Really---than why even have air filters. They talked to me like a idiot. Anyone who knows anything about internal combustion engines know they need clean air or sand and grit will kill seals and rings. This was completley lost to the SERVICE MANAGER!!!! He did not see a problem. DO not go there. You might have a great expereince, but it only takes on mess up, and they will not take care of their mistakes!!! Or even make a good faith effort. Contacted Toyota North America today, and got a case number!!! More
