I "do my homework" and was very familiar with car values before arriving. My trade-in had the average amount of miles for a 6 year old car, a clean carfax, is mechanically in excellent condition, car values before arriving. My trade-in had the average amount of miles for a 6 year old car, a clean carfax, is mechanically in excellent condition, and you could count the number of blemishes inside and out on one hand. Pros: The salesman I dealt with was friendly and was happy to let me test drive two used vehicles by myself. He did try to steer me towards more expensive models a few times but was not pushy about it. The two 4 year old Subarus I tested seemed to be in very good condition and I was genuinely interested in buying one of them. The listed (on Autotrader.com) asking price for that vehicle was about %10 under what I would judge MSRP to be. Cons: I was absolutely stunned by the initial offer to come down from the manager for my trade-in, which was $3000+ under *auction* value and almost half of my vehicle's trade-in value. After the manager came down to "negotiate" with me I was told that the best he could do was still $2000+ less than the listed kbb/nada/edmunds trade-in value for my car vs their non-negotiable listed price. Suggestions for this dealership: If you're not interested in trade-ins you should let the customer know that up front. More importantly, don't insult them with an initial offer that a junkyard might make for parts on a totaled car. Also, be able to identify (the apparently few) informed buyers that come through your doors and don't waste their time if you're only interested in making massive profits on every deal you do. I've been looking for the right used car for just over a week now and this has easily been my worst experience. More
My wife and I decided we were ready to purchase a 2013 Outback, our second Subaru. We submitted pricing requests to about 10 dealers in Michigan and Illinois. Sandy Jackson from Grand was the first to res Outback, our second Subaru. We submitted pricing requests to about 10 dealers in Michigan and Illinois. Sandy Jackson from Grand was the first to respond..... not pushy at all but ready to move. I waited until I received all the other offers. Sandy's was the lowest by a good margin. When I told other dealers what Sandy's offer was, they assured me the it couldn't be for the same vehicle, or that it must have been hail damaged or that the price would change after I got to the dealership. Well we gave a deposit and made the trip to Grand and were pleasantly surprised that it was the correct vehicle, not damaged in any way and the price actually went DOWN a couple dollars. About six weeks later we sold our 2012 Outback and replaced it with another 2013 that we also bought from Sandy. Sandy is pleasant to work with and is very easy to get ahold of on the phone or email. One thing worth noting...... if you are from Michigan or any other state that does not have a front license plate requirement ask if you can get a vehicle that has not had screws put into the front bumper. I purchased a new Outback from Sandy Jackson. She told me her best price from the start, and it beat everybody else. Sandy was great! She offered the best price around and didn't play games. Sandy and Ryan at Grand Subaru arie rock stars! In under 24 hrs over the Internet and on a weekend, Sandy had located the car I specified about 100 miles from their showroom and Ryan took a credit card depo 24 hrs over the Internet and on a weekend, Sandy had located the car I specified about 100 miles from their showroom and Ryan took a credit card deposit over the phone. It was as easy as ordering pizza. Choose the toppings and you are good to go. I was happy with the asking price. I couldn't get one of their competitors to even give me a price by phone or email even after test driving there (Gerald's). The same competitor told me I would have to wait 8-12 weeks for delivery from the manufacturer. Grand procured my vehicle in 4 days. Another competitor (Mid-City) gave me an Internet price only to flood me with follow up emails. Grand brings car buying into the 21st century. Yes, they are still a dealership with remnants from days grown old. You still must hear sales pitches for interior/exterior protection and extended warranties (read the exclusions and conditions for both). When closing the deal, make sure to read the financing closely as documents fly by at fast pace for signing. Nonetheless, Ryan an Sandy have an easygoing and humorous manner but are hardworking and remarkably responsive. And, BTW, my 2013 Outback is an outstanding, better than hoped for vehicles without a flaw thus far. More
This was my first new car purchase, not to mention my first Subaru. Going to a dealership was not something I was looking forward to. You hear the horror stories about purchasing a new vehicle..and tha first Subaru. Going to a dealership was not something I was looking forward to. You hear the horror stories about purchasing a new vehicle..and that was not the case with my experience at Grand Subaru and with Joe D'Andrea. There was no pressure. Joe worked with me to find the right car for ME and I couldn't be happier with the purchase. He was genuinely excited when the car I ordered arrived on the lot and he called me. I was referred to Joe by a friend who had also purchased a Subaru at Grand and had a similar experience. We had both shopped around and couldn't find a dealer who could come close to the price and service Grand offers. I would recommend Joe D'Andrea and the people at Grand Subaru to anyone looking to purchase a vehicle in a no pressure, you first atmosphere. Just a great overall experience and an amazing 2013 Subaru Impreza WRX. Thanks. More

It was, without a doubt, a long an arduous process to order and wait for my 2013 WRX. However, Chris and the rest of the guys as Grand were very proactive communicators and made an obvious effort to mak order and wait for my 2013 WRX. However, Chris and the rest of the guys as Grand were very proactive communicators and made an obvious effort to make sure all of my questions were answered. The service was GREAT - they did everything they could to meet my pick-up schedule on time and were very accommodating to my logistics requests. Chris was friendly and very "real." I definitely felt like he understood where I was coming from. There was absolutely no BS about price or anything like that; a fair and straight forward experience. Next time anyone I know is looking for a Subi, I will be sure to point them towards Grand. More
