Buying a car (especially during a pandemic) has the potential to be tedious, annoying, and intimidating. My wife and I spent A LOT of time researching cars and going to different dealerships and private craigslist sellers in the NY/NJ/CT area before finally getting our winner at Grand Prix Subaru. First off, the customer service was fantastic. Every interaction from calling to make an appointment to being greeted at the door and finally being walked through the actual sale was done by a friendly, helpful professional. After weeks of getting the run around from low level salesmen at other dealerships, it was a relief to feel like we were finally dealing with a legitimate business. It was also comforting to see that employees were actually wearing masks, using hand sanitizer, and adhering to proper social distancing policies. We visited Grand Prix Subaru after seeing an ad for a beautiful 2012 Forester with great mileage and an all weather package . . . and we got to test drive that exact car. No bait and switch scam here! Kevin Kirby was our salesman, and he was a pleasure to work with. He was friendly, detail oriented, answered all of our questions appropriately, and if he didn't know the answer to something, he got us proper assistance. He was with us throughout the whole process, from the test drive to assembling our paperwork, to calling our insurance company and waving us off the lot when we drove off into the Long Island sunset. He was the BEST, and you should seek him out if you are going to check out cars there. Since purchasing the car, we've gone back to get work done on the service side, and both times it's been thorough and did not feel like we were ripped off, which is kind of huge for two female car owners. Ever get into your car and wonder if the work has been really been done or if it was truly worth what you paid? Not at Grand Prix Subaru. On both the sales side as well as the service side, their customer service is top notch. In addition, the VIP package is an excellent perk of purchasing a car there. It includes unlimited and free oil changes/express lube, free NYS annual inspection, free loaner cars or shuttles, and 24/7 towing from the Midtown Tunnel to Montauk. We live in Brooklyn, but since they offer the loaner cars or shuttle service, we don't feel as stranded or limited as taking it to a nearby Pep Boys or local mechanic. If you do not want a loaner, they also have a very comfortable waiting area with bathrooms and coffee and Wifi. The shop is also open until 8pm on weekdays, so getting there after work to pick up the car if you work in the city is doable. To close, Grand Prix Subaru was an awesome experience. If you are looking into joining the Subaru family, get yourself out to Hicksville and work with a group of people who know how to sell cars the right way. They treated us with respect throughout the whole process, and we drove away on our heated seats with peace of mind. More
