I went car shopping at Grand Prix Subaru this past Monday. The moment I walked into the showroom, I was greeted by Joe Iucci. I never felt press Used into buying my new car by Joe at all. He educated me on the Subaru brand as well as everything having to do with the Forster. He did not rush the process and answered every question I had. Joe even took the time to get to know me on a personal level as well. Upon picking up my new car, he sat down with me again to briefly go over everything again and explained each piece of paper I had to sign. I truly appreciated the time Joe put into sitting with me in the car to explain and demonstrate every feature there is in the Forester Touring. He did not rush this either and was very patient if I had asked him to explain it again. Joe is the most knowledgeable, passionate, and through with his job. Buying a car, or having to walk into a dealer's showroom remains one of my most hated experiences. This is especially true in my case as a business executive who has also trained and managed hundreds of sal remains one of my most hated experiences. It is sad that most car dealers have learned nothing and still sell cars the old fashioned pushy and abrasive way. When I come across an operation that I consider a class-act, I have to rave about it. Over the weekend, we went to six dealers in search of a new car. It was nothing but sheer torture, really. I was ready to buy a car online when I remembered that I always wanted a Subaru and that a few years ago I visited Grand Prix with my daughter. You can tell what comes next by the way the 'greeter' welcomes you - pleasant, professional and a temperature check. I was assigned Marie as my sales rep and the next hour or so was more like visiting a family member then buying a car. Even I (who is always on-guard) was able to relax. I don't play the car "song and dance" I told Marie -- here's what I am looking for, here's my budget, what's next? It didn't take long, after a test drive, for me to pick the Crosstrek. We moved to the deal stage when I met Mike Kosiorowski, the sales manager. It was clear to me that Mike was there to accommodate me instead of selling me a car - a big difference from the majority of dealership when the sales manager acts as a 'closer' - Don't get me wrong, Mike wanted me to buy a car from Grand Prix but he was genuinely interested in a win-win solution. With my resistance to spending even 20 mins in car dealerships, I wound up spending 2 hours at Grand Prix because it felt right. Before picking up the car, they were a few things to take care of which again, Marie followed up diligently (when she said she'll take care of it, she did) and I never had to chase anyone at Grand Prix. We all have enough to deal with and being able to have peace-of-mind with your car dealer is a huge deal for me. Fast forward to picking up the car; Marie stayed late for me (past 8 PM) and the process, as everything else I experienced here was smooth and enjoyable. I also used the VIP service with my Jeep and Fiat and this is a big differentiator between Grand Prix (the group that owns them and Jeep) and other dealers. So, if you're dreading buying a car and want to experience something unique, I highly recommend that you give Grand Prix a shot. More
