Mr. Finley purchased a Jaguar F-TYPE from us in July 2024. Shortly after, he reported an oil leak we agreed to take care of that for him. We asked that the vehicle be returned so that our service department could take care of the repair. Sometime later, the car was brought to us on a trailer and was no longer able to start. Upon inspection, we found that the engine was locked up and seized. The coolant reservoir was empty. After a thorough inspection it was obvious the engine had been overheated; it was driven hot with no coolant in it until it stopped running. In an effort to assist our customer, we offered to replace the engine at our cost, even though this type of failure is not covered by our warranty or any other warranty companies, because driving a vehicle while it is overheating with no coolant in it is considered neglect/abuse. Although we extended the cost-only engine replacement option, Mr. Finley declined and stated he would handle the matter on his own. At that time, he was not upset and seemed to understand that this situation was caused by him driving the vehicle while it was overheating. Nearly a year later, the vehicle was picked up, and this review was posted. We sell over 250 Jaguar Land Rover vehicles each year, and we are fully aware that these models can experience coolant-related issues that could lead to catastrophic engine damage / failure if the vehicle is driven without proper coolant level. For this reason, every single Jaguar Land Rover we sell has our service department of dozen+ mechanics to inspect the coolant system thoroughly, performing a pressure test to inspect it for leaks and if problems are found they are repaired. This is in addition to our normal 121-point inspection performing any necessary repair or service needed. In addition to all this and because we care about our customers, we have a disclosure form that each Jaguar Land rover customer, including Mr. Finley signed, to acknowledge and confirm we have disclosed this manufacturer-related risk and the importance of pulling over immediately if the vehicle says it is overheating or low on coolant. While we regret how this situation unfolded, we did everything we could to make sure the car was in very good running order upon purchase and informed the customer of the areas they should be careful about this type of vehicle.

Ms. Rocquemore, we conducted a thorough review including video footage, employee statements, and text communications and found no evidence supporting the serious claims being made. You referenced having consulted an attorney and further claimed to possess recordings of the incident. We asked you to provide those recordings so that we could properly review and address the situation, however, you did not provide those nor did we hear from your attorney. The salesperson mentioned, Mr. JaJa Mallory, has been with our company for over seven years without any complaint of similar accusations and continues to be one of our most professional and well-reviewed team members. Following the incident, you returned to our establishment to continue the purchase process and did not express any frustration or discomfort to management during that visit. On your final visit, you requested to meet with either the General Manager or Sales Manager and expressed dissatisfaction with our decision, stating that we had not met any of your demands, which included over a $15,000 in discount and free brand new wheels and tires, in exchange for not pursuing the matter further. When we declined to comply with those disproportionate requests, you indicated that you would post negative reviews and file additional complaints

Thank you for your email and for outlining your position regarding the incident in question. I must, however, firmly dispute several statements made in your message, as they misrepresent both my actions and intentions. First, my concerns were raised in good faith based on how I was treated during my interactions at your establishment. My decision to seek legal counsel was not a threat, but a standard step in protecting my rights and ensuring proper documentation of the incident. Second, it is inaccurate and misleading to characterize my communication as “demands” or “disproportionate requests.” At no point did I offer to forgo pursuing the matter in exchange for any financial or product-based incentive. My discussions referenced potential resolutions as a means to restore goodwill and accountability, not as coercion. Third, while I did return to complete certain parts of the purchase process, this should not be interpreted as satisfaction or dismissal of my concerns. My actions were taken under the understanding that the situation would be investigated and resolved professionally. Finally, the implication that I have refused to cooperate by withholding recordings is incorrect. I have been cautious in sharing materials pending legal advice to ensure all evidence is handled appropriately and securely. I value fairness, professionalism, and transparency, the same qualities I expected from your team. Unfortunately, your response disregards key context and attempts to discredit my integrity instead of addressing the substantive issue at hand. Please consider this my formal written response disputing your characterization of events. I request that my name and reputation not be associated with false or misleading statements in any future correspondence or internal record. Have the day that you deserve, DeAnna Rocquemore

Additionally, I find it deeply concerning that your investigation disregarded the inappropriate and unprofessional remarks made by Mr. Mallory during my visit. His unsolicited comments regarding his ex wife, daughter, his mother and sister, and personal opinions about race and gender were entirely unrelated to the purpose of my visit and made me extremely uncomfortable. Such conduct is not acceptable in any professional environment, and I expected that a matter of this nature would be taken more seriously. It is shameful that an organization representing itself as reputable would ignore behavior so clearly unprofessional and inappropriate. Your delayed and dismissive response speaks volumes about the culture and priorities within your company.
