I brought my wife's 2017 Pacifica in because of a check engine light that had P0440 & P0456 codes related to the evap system. Initial drop off seemed OK and they took notes on the issues. A few days later I got an update from the service advisor that they have analyzed the issue and there is no voltage at the esim module and the only solution is to run a new wire from the engine compartment for $1200. This immediately sounded like a hack around and something that may not even solve the issue. After questioning it, I was just told that the only solution and take it or leave it. I decided to pick up the vehicle and pay the ridiculous $199.95 diagnostic fee. Once I got home I took off the rear drivers side tire and unplugged the esim module to verify that they were correct and no voltage there - ok point for them. I then looked at the wire connected to the esim module and ~6 inches away there was an obvious break in the wire where it had been chewed. This tells me that 1 of 2 things happened - either they never even looked at the module and just saw no voltage from the computer and came up with their "solution" or they saw the break and an obvious way to scam extra money without doing extra work. Either of these scenarios is absolutely terrible from a service standpoint. I then fixed the break in the wire and as I expected, that in itself did not even fix the issue! I ran a full evap cycle (over 3 days) and a p0440 code popped back up. So their $1200 fix would've just resulted in more unexpected time and cost! I then replaced both the evap solenoid and esim module (combined $35 for the parts) and ran another cycle and codes gone; who knows what insane amount they would have charged for the $35 worth of parts and 30 minutes it took to change the parts... Extra info is that they also strongly recommended to change the 2 rear brakepads for ~$500; which is just a pure parts change so shows you how crazy their pricing is. I would not recommend this dealership to anyone because of the predatory and/or misleading pricing practices and shoddy diagnostics. More
