Make sure you check other sites for reviews of this dealership - I find it hard to believe they have 4.7 here and below 2 everywhere else. I wish I had read other reviews before purchasing my vehicle at Center Subaru. I definitely felt like I was being "sold" a car - they start out as friendly and accommodating and then get extremely pushy ("What can I do to get you in that car today?" is an exact quote). I wish I had walked away but I truly thought I was getting a good deal (boy, was I wrong). Here are the things that made this my worst car buying experience to date: 1. The salesman kept trying to push me into a more expensive car. 2. When we were trying to negotiate they only gave me the price in monthly payments, not what I was actually paying for the car. The first monthly payment they came back to me with would have had me paying MORE for the car than the sticker price (although I didn't realize this until later). I ended up "talking them down" almost $100 in the monthly payment so I thought I was getting a great deal and I bought it. When I actually signed the loan paperwork it was less than $2000 off the price of a $30k car. I have regretted not asking them to see the price of the car instead of the monthly payment ever since. 3. The salesman had to call me at least 4 or 5 times with additional questions for the bank - questions that I should have been asked for in advance, nothing that he shouldn't have asked the first time around. 4. When I picked up the car it was missing 4 add-ons. I had to make an appointment and bring my brand new car back in 1 1/2 weeks later to get them added on. 5. I was never informed that they may not pay off my trade-in right away. So even though I gave them my old car, I got charged for a car payment on it almost 2 weeks later. I do not keep money in that bank account except when I have a car payment coming up so it overdrew my bank account. 6. When I brought my car in to get the 4 items added they gave me a loaner car with the gas light on. I didn't realize it until I was a mile away. 7. I met with the sales manager, Myles, to discuss my terrible experience and he told me I was being "irrational" for wanting to get my old car back. I was extremely unhappy with my purchase, I felt like I had paid too much (but didn't realize it until it was too late), and the paperwork had not yet gone through at the DMV or my bank. I know for a fact that other dealerships do this (not all - but definitely the ones who pride themselves on service). In summary, this is the worst car dealership I have ever dealt with. I purchased my last Subaru at Van Bortel Subaru in Victor, NY and had THE BEST car buying experience. I was so proud to own a car from that dealership. I never once felt like I was being pushed into something. I will be driving to New York this summer to trade my car in for a Van Bortel Subaru. More

Upon arriving at Center Subaru in Torrington, CT my husband and I were greeted out front by a pleasant salesman. Joe was very friendly and eager to find me the car that I wanted. When we determined the type of car I wanted was not on the lot he checked on the internet both regionally and in their Jacksonville, FL dealership. We could not find a car that was perfect so he suggested ordering one from Subaru itself. Joe had lots of ideas and so much energy into searching for a car for me. After I changed my car profile, he did find one right there in the pre-owned lot with a price I could not say no to. The next day i had to drive up to my daughter at college and he made sure the car was ready for pick-up first thing in the morning. The whole team at Center Subaru had to work together to make this happen. I am very appreciative that they were able to do this. More
My husband and I were just starting our search for a small SUV and after test driving the Subaru Forester we were impressed with the car and its features over all. We were treated with friendly courtesy and all our questions were answered. We didn't even go to another dealer to check out other makes of cars. We were very satisfied and bought a gently used Forester the same day. Frank also assisted us with financing though my husbands credit union. We were able to pick up the car the next afternoon. We are looking forward to driving our Forester for many years to come. After we bought our Forester others that have done business with Center have only positive things to say. Our experience with Frank and Center Subaru has been a very positive one so far. More

If you are looking for a different and positive car buying experience, keep looking. You cannot communicate with a salesperson via email even though they provide email addresses on their business cards buying experience, keep looking. Again, because the emails are not sent by the sales person, they are sent by the back office who have never met you and don’t read your emails. This is a very bad practice, bordering on unethical. Phone calls are also responded to inconsistently. Lastly, there is still the mysterious deal or no deal man behind the curtain sales manager shtick. Give me a break. From my observation, there are no female sales personnel either. This is a gap that should be addressed. The 2012 model car I bought had a badly repaired scratch that I found when I got it home. I won’t even approach the dealership about repairing it correctly as I have feeling they will blow me off and I just don’t feel like dealing with them anymore. This experience is why I buy from private parties when I can. Unfortunately, the model I was looking for was scarce. Good luck. More

The service department is great. They explain what needs doing and do not try and sell you anything extra. My car is always cleaned and delivered when promised.
