Although my initial sales person was David Russo, who was very nice, I mostly worked with Brent Jackson who went above and beyond to work out all the financials with me! Aside from his keen knowledge and pro very nice, I mostly worked with Brent Jackson who went above and beyond to work out all the financials with me! Aside from his keen knowledge and professionalism, he worked very hard to get me close to the price I wanted. He also took the extra step to finalize the deal when I picked up the car b/c David was off that day. Brent showed me how to use all the features, put on the temp plate, as well as the inspection sticker. I have to say, of all my experiences with buying/leasing cars, I've never had the finance person go the extra mile like Brent did and he was the real reason why I decided to go with Honda! More
Let me start by commending the sales person, Hector Aviles. He made the buying process easy and treated me with courtesy and respect throughout. He answered all my questions, addressed all my concerns Aviles. He made the buying process easy and treated me with courtesy and respect throughout. He answered all my questions, addressed all my concerns and went above and beyond to make me happy. He was nothing but helpful and professional the whole way through. He is an asset to your dealership and completely proves the 'sleazy car salesman' stereotype wrong. I hope that all my future car buying experiences are like this one. I would wholeheartedly recommend anyone I know to go to Hector if they are interested in purchasing a vehicle. On the complete other end of the spectrum was the finance department. I first spoke to Isabel (I did not get her last name). At first she was helpful and professional, but once she found out I was not interested in purchasing any of the extra options for protection that she was offering, her demeanor changed. She became short with me, seemed very visibly frustrated and gave me the impression that I was wasting her time. She also lied to me about the terms of my loan, she said that I could not do a 36 month finance because my payments could not exceed $200 a month even though she had offered me a package of protection that would have made my payments close to $250 a month. She just did not want to offer me 36 months because I wasn't buying what she was selling. When I called Honda financial directly they said I could have done 36 months if I wanted to and they did not know why she lied to me. She also had her manager, Mr. Joe Choy, come out to try to convince me to buy other options. He proceeded to badger me for over 15 minutes even though I gracefully declined to accept anything at least a dozen times. He insinuated that I was stupid and uninformed for not wanting the extended warranty, told me I was wrong in belief that I felt I could get a comparable warranty from another source. He rolled his eyes at me and when it became apparent to him that he could not convince to buy anything he gave me attitude, snatched the papers from the desk and practically stormed out of the room. I understand that these people in finance might need to sell me these options to make commission but they should not disrespect customers who are not interested in any of the things they are offering. It seems to me that once they knew I would not be putting money in their pocket, I went from being a customer to being a nuisance that just wanted to push out the door as rudely as possible. After the experience I had on the sales end, the finance end was a real let down. Maybe their training should include how to deal with the fact that some customers, for whatever personal reasons they have, might not be interested in extra services and that the fact that they are not interested does not make them less of a customer. Over all, I would give your sales department an A+ and your finance department an F. I cannot in good conscience recommend anyone I know to go through your finance department, they were rude, unprofessional and a huge disappointment. Hopefulle no one else has to deal with the disrespect and lack of courtesy that I received in finance. More
Showroom was nice and people were friendly. Salesman was accommodating and I got quick answers to my questions from him and the manager. My various options were explained honestly and there were no unpleasa accommodating and I got quick answers to my questions from him and the manager. My various options were explained honestly and there were no unpleasant surprises when the paperwork came. My only complaint, not a big one, is that more of the paperwork could have been done before I came to pick up the car, since they know when I was coming. Overall, however, I would come back and would recommend my friends. More
My wife & I had a nice experience getting our Honda Pilot (2009) from this dealership (in Clifton). They were very profesional and straight forward. The after sales service was also great. They actually arra (2009) from this dealership (in Clifton). They were very profesional and straight forward. The after sales service was also great. They actually arranged to drop me back home the day after I bought the car. This was a big deal to me since the reason I came back to the dealership the next day was basically to get them to do me a favor. They also seem to work as a team in the Clifton dealership, which helped to make the experience more pleasant. For those who may not know, Garden State Honda operates in two locations: 1. Clifton & 2. Passaic. I purchased my car from the Clifton location and thus recommend that you go there. This is because the only negative aspect of my experience was when I went to the Passaic location to ask for the favor I referred to earlier (I basically wanted to return my old vehicle, another Honda, which I had leased at a different dealership, prior to doing the recomended inspection). I was basically treated as a total stranger at Passaic, even after I had explained to them that I had purchased a new vehicle from the sister location. I think the Passaic & Clifton locations can co-ordinate/communicate better. They gave me the VERY BEST PRICE. I had been to/ spoke with other Honda dealerships, I had also done my research on the web. They gave me the best deal. Their slogan is "we say Yes" and they said Yes to us. I would definately recommend them to my friends & colleagues at work. More
AWFUL, SLEAZY, LIARS. They sold me a car that was leaking gas fumes. I brought it in to be repaired a few weeks after I bought it. They kept the car for over a week and no one ever called me to tell me what gas fumes. I brought it in to be repaired a few weeks after I bought it. They kept the car for over a week and no one ever called me to tell me what was going on with it. I had to call several times to get someone to finally call me back. When someone did, I was told that 2 parts (the fuel line and the back seat cushion, whcih was soaked in gas fumes) had to be replaced. WWhen I picked up the car, it still reeked of gas, so I refused to take it, and left in the loaner car they had provided me. Carlos, one of the managers at the showroom, told me that he would "set me up with a new 2009" the next day (my car was a 2008). When I arrived the next day, Carlos tried to SELL me a new car. I told him that I had no intention of buying a new car and that I would just take my money back. Carlos told me that there was "no such thing" as giving me my money back. I was so disgusted that again I left with their loaner car. That was over a week ago and I still have their loaner car and have not heard back from them at all. DO NOT GO HERE!!!! They received an "F" from the Better Business Bureau and it is obvious why. They epitomize the stereotype of the sleazy car dealer. There are many other Honda dealers in the area that received much bettermarks from the Better Business Bureau...pick one of them instead, PLEASE!!! More
I just wanted to add to my last review something that I had forgotten about. When I was buying my car, I was sitting down with the finance guy, Joseph Randazoo, who told me all about how he liked to make had forgotten about. When I was buying my car, I was sitting down with the finance guy, Joseph Randazoo, who told me all about how he liked to make a lot of money off Chinese people by telling them that their new licence plate number was going to include the number 4. Evidently, the number 4 is unlucky in Chinese culture. He would then charge them a fee in order to give them a licence plate that did not have a number 4. I have no idea why he decided to tell me all this, but he did. SOOO sleazy!! More
Customer Service, Friendliness and Overall experience are 4 because there is always room for improvement (on a scale of 1-100 each would be 90-95). On price I had to go a little beyond my anticipated budget 4 because there is always room for improvement (on a scale of 1-100 each would be 90-95). On price I had to go a little beyond my anticipated budget so it's more like a 2.5, especially given the Economy. Negotiations were pleasant, and hassle free, with understanding and attention to my needs. I walked away with a feeling of satisfaction that I got my money's worth, all said and done I am happy with the vehicle I bought, and my experience: to put this into perspective, consider that I hate dealing with car salesmen -then again, who doesn't. My experience with Garden State Honda is one that I would recommend to my friends and neighbors. Our salesman, David Russo was courteous and attentive but never intimidating as some salespeople can be. David recommend to my friends and neighbors. The sales manager, Carlos was also courteous and pleasant to deal with when negotiating price. I found a good price from this company on the website and recieved an email with a good price quote from Cindy. They were one of three dealerships in the state who had the specific vehicle and specs we aske recieved an email with a good price quote from Cindy. They were one of three dealerships in the state who had the specific vehicle and specs we asked for. I asked Cindy to confirm the quote and to physically confirm the vehicle is new and on their lot. She did and I said we would be there the following day to buy it. The next day I called before driving over and Cindy wasn't there. I asked for her supervisor and was put in touch with Gloria. Gloria pulled my information and said she would help me when we arrived. We had two sick kids home from school that day and I asked Gloria to assure me that the vehicle was there because I didnt want to drag my sick kids an hour for no reason. She also assured me it was there. We arrive and are turned over to a guy named Mke (usually works in used car office in Passaic), because Gloria isn't there. He told me that the car WASNT THERE and the owner family was using it because it was a demo (NOT NEW). He said it's (the vehicle we asked for) five minutes away and will show it to us; promised to make us a great offer. 1 1/2 hours later it shows up, scratched, and chipped, 5000 + miles. He offers a price, nearly the same as a new one and refuses to improve offer. My daughter is throwing up now in the parking lot and my wife is late for work. A classic bait & switch! They have no human decancy to treat my family that way to and have NO SOUL. I went elsewhere and purchased a vehicle today for less than they wanted to sell me there used one. More
I would like to take this opportunity to shed some insight on my very recent experience to Garden State Honda in Clifton. Upon my entering the dealership I was greeted by David Russo who turned out to insight on my very recent experience to Garden State Honda in Clifton. Upon my entering the dealership I was greeted by David Russo who turned out to be a friendly, informative and non pressured sales person. Best of all he was the only person from all the dealerships that I had visited over the previous week in my car shopping that actually called me back with a quote the next day and to see if he could gain my business. Dave and I set an appointment for me to come in the following night and go thru all the details and to see if we could negotiate a price that worked for me. The day I came in to see David Russo he was unfortunately with other clients and he did not want to see me waiting around so he had me work with Alywn Doug another fine gentleman who keeps a level head at all times. Alwyn did his best to work with my sometimes over the top requests and my sometimes not so easy attitude. Once we agreed on the car, model, price and options the sales part is over and it was off to the finance departments desk sign. Having worked in the car business many years earlier, I was anticipating another round of negotiating with the finance manager; typically this is were they try to make up any loss they gave you on the car. I was greeted by Ali who tried his best to reassure me that he was not going to change the final price of the car and that he was really there to arrange for the final financing. Since I was meeting with Ali in the evening we would have to wait until the next day to see if Honda Credit would accept his request for my financing under my original terms. He explained that he would not be in in the next day but would make sure that the financing was taken care of and he even gave me his cell number in case I had questions. The next day came (on Ali's day off) I received a call that Ali had worked everything out and that his counter part Mr. Reiner (who turned out to be another very professional and straight forward Honda Rep)would finalize the transaction for me. I must say that every step of the way I was expecting have my price changed or to hear that this option was no longer included or something that was going to prove to me that I can't trust car sales people. I am happy to say that from Dave, Alwyn, Ali, Reiner and Jose I was proven WRONG! I was no easy sale and they earned my respect. I would recommend dealing with Dave and Alwyn for a calm and relaxed sales experience. And don't be scared of Ali or Reiner they are both fine and professional individuals who can even help with the sales if needed. Dave K More
