My wife and I walked into the dealership cold. We did not have an appointment. To our pleasant surprise we were met immediately by Mr. Allwyn Douglas. We were just looking around so to speak. Mr. Dougl not have an appointment. To our pleasant surprise we were met immediately by Mr. Allwyn Douglas. We were just looking around so to speak. Mr. Douglas helped us make our minds up quickly with his descriptive conversation and his knowledge about the product. He answered all of our questions. His attention to detail was welcomed as it eased or minds as we considered this major purchase. My wife and I were treated like VIP's in all phases of the final negotiations. The dealership was well kept and maintained. The management has seen to it that the atmosphere is conducive to a friendly, conversant, relationship between client and salesman. Making this purchase decision easy and smoothly transacted. Delivery was seamless and effected in a timely manor. The vehicle was professionally prepped and impressively detailed. Dishonest and unethical -- DO NOT buy from Garden State Honda in Passaic!!!!! The dealer outright lied that the CARFAX report on a '10 Honda Pilot I was considering was "clean." I drove 2.5 hours (each Honda in Passaic!!!!! The dealer outright lied that the CARFAX report on a '10 Honda Pilot I was considering was "clean." I drove 2.5 hours (each way, mind you) only to learn that the Pilot was actually in a wreck and had battery issues. If that's what was on the CARFAX report, I wonder what else they're hiding... Would you spend $30k at a dealership that lies? I sure won't. LIARS and SCAMMERS. AVOID. FYI: VIN: 5FNYF48659B031356 was in an ACCIDENT. I contacted the dealership, through their website, and received a reply very quickly. We were in contact through emails and phone calls. I told the rep exactly what type of car I was interested in, an received a reply very quickly. We were in contact through emails and phone calls. I told the rep exactly what type of car I was interested in, and that I wanted the total bottom line cost. I was given the exact break-down of all charges, and made a date to physically meet with the sales person. We met and went over everything again, asked a few questions about the standard inclusions, test drove the car, took the salesman's business card, and told him I would be getting back to him in a day or two. The internet rep, as well as the salesman, were both extremely helpful, polite, courteous, and a pleasure to deal with. I was impressed with their honesty, and no wasting their or my time. I now own a car I truly love; at a cost I feel was very fair. It was a very pleasant and stress-free experience. I would definitely recommend this dealership and salesman. More

As I continue to sit here thinking about how my lease purchase was handled, it is sad to say that my lease purchase was handled very wrong and sort of similar to how prime mortgage companies handled a lot of refinance customers which took the economy down. I entered Honda at 2:00pm and Honda sales team managed to keep me in the showroom for more than 3 – 4 hours negotiating an affordable payment pricing for the car I really wanted to drive. My sales agent worked to get the sales managers to agree on $1000 down with a $235 monthly payment. The sales agent then had me give him permission to swipe my debit card for the down payment and then sign all documents to get the car ready for delivery and prep. My sales agent also went as far as to ask me to call my insurance company to add the insurance on the vehicle and fax copy of the insurance binder. At that point my sales agent advises me that he will now take my credit application to run my credit report to complete the process. He told me to wait here, the finance team was working on several other applications ahead of mines but not to worry because the car is mine and it is being sent for. At this point the time has gone from 6:15pm to 7:30pm when Fernando the finance manager came out to introduce himself and took me to the back office to discuss and complete the process. I asked Mr. Fernando about my credit score and he told me that it was not a tier 1 level so my payments on the car will go up to $272.74; my 1st instinct was to walk out of his office and leave but because my sales agent was so diligent to get my negotiating price approved I remain seated and sign the documents to the new monthly price. I did express to both Fernando and my sales agent why does Honda process this way, why would you not run the customer’s credit report prior to any price negotiation, Fernando clearly stopped me in my thoughts and said that “look you could afford it”, how and what rights does he have to tell me such. I found that statement from Fernando very unprofessional and bias. I felt like I was rip-off. He has no idea what my financial responsibilities are outside what my credit report states; I am a single mother of two teenagers, one attending college on campus, and the other on her way to college this year. Increasing my monthly payments has hindered my financial debt situation. I think I was abused as a female customer shopping for a vehicle alone without a man by my side. I’m wondering today if I should report this wrong-doing scenario to FTC Bureau about my experience at Garden State Honda. More
Jimmy was wonderful. There was NO pressure at all, he was courteous, helpful, funny and fair. We absolutely would recommend Garden State Honda, even though it is far from our house! Although the sales man was really nice in the beginning, I began to feel a lot of pressure shortly after I expressed inter out with one the same day. A total sleezy sales man. I have been to other dealerships in the state but none made me feel the way this one did... Was really one of the worst car shopping experiences I have had. Even though they did offer me a good deal, I decided not to go with them. Any dealership that treats someone this way does not deserve the business. More
