My wife & I had a nice experience getting our Honda Pilot (2009) from this dealership (in Clifton). They were very profesional and straight forward. The after sales service was also great. They actually arra (2009) from this dealership (in Clifton). They were very profesional and straight forward. The after sales service was also great. They actually arranged to drop me back home the day after I bought the car. This was a big deal to me since the reason I came back to the dealership the next day was basically to get them to do me a favor. They also seem to work as a team in the Clifton dealership, which helped to make the experience more pleasant. For those who may not know, Garden State Honda operates in two locations: 1. Clifton & 2. Passaic. I purchased my car from the Clifton location and thus recommend that you go there. This is because the only negative aspect of my experience was when I went to the Passaic location to ask for the favor I referred to earlier (I basically wanted to return my old vehicle, another Honda, which I had leased at a different dealership, prior to doing the recomended inspection). I was basically treated as a total stranger at Passaic, even after I had explained to them that I had purchased a new vehicle from the sister location. I think the Passaic & Clifton locations can co-ordinate/communicate better. They gave me the VERY BEST PRICE. I had been to/ spoke with other Honda dealerships, I had also done my research on the web. They gave me the best deal. Their slogan is "we say Yes" and they said Yes to us. I would definately recommend them to my friends & colleagues at work. More
AWFUL, SLEAZY, LIARS. They sold me a car that was leaking gas fumes. I brought it in to be repaired a few weeks after I bought it. They kept the car for over a week and no one ever called me to tell me what gas fumes. I brought it in to be repaired a few weeks after I bought it. They kept the car for over a week and no one ever called me to tell me what was going on with it. I had to call several times to get someone to finally call me back. When someone did, I was told that 2 parts (the fuel line and the back seat cushion, whcih was soaked in gas fumes) had to be replaced. WWhen I picked up the car, it still reeked of gas, so I refused to take it, and left in the loaner car they had provided me. Carlos, one of the managers at the showroom, told me that he would "set me up with a new 2009" the next day (my car was a 2008). When I arrived the next day, Carlos tried to SELL me a new car. I told him that I had no intention of buying a new car and that I would just take my money back. Carlos told me that there was "no such thing" as giving me my money back. I was so disgusted that again I left with their loaner car. That was over a week ago and I still have their loaner car and have not heard back from them at all. DO NOT GO HERE!!!! They received an "F" from the Better Business Bureau and it is obvious why. They epitomize the stereotype of the sleazy car dealer. There are many other Honda dealers in the area that received much bettermarks from the Better Business Bureau...pick one of them instead, PLEASE!!! More
I just wanted to add to my last review something that I had forgotten about. When I was buying my car, I was sitting down with the finance guy, Joseph Randazoo, who told me all about how he liked to make had forgotten about. When I was buying my car, I was sitting down with the finance guy, Joseph Randazoo, who told me all about how he liked to make a lot of money off Chinese people by telling them that their new licence plate number was going to include the number 4. Evidently, the number 4 is unlucky in Chinese culture. He would then charge them a fee in order to give them a licence plate that did not have a number 4. I have no idea why he decided to tell me all this, but he did. SOOO sleazy!! More
Customer Service, Friendliness and Overall experience are 4 because there is always room for improvement (on a scale of 1-100 each would be 90-95). On price I had to go a little beyond my anticipated budget 4 because there is always room for improvement (on a scale of 1-100 each would be 90-95). On price I had to go a little beyond my anticipated budget so it's more like a 2.5, especially given the Economy. Negotiations were pleasant, and hassle free, with understanding and attention to my needs. I walked away with a feeling of satisfaction that I got my money's worth, all said and done I am happy with the vehicle I bought, and my experience: to put this into perspective, consider that I hate dealing with car salesmen -then again, who doesn't. My experience with Garden State Honda is one that I would recommend to my friends and neighbors. Our salesman, David Russo was courteous and attentive but never intimidating as some salespeople can be. David recommend to my friends and neighbors. Our salesman, David Russo was courteous and attentive but never intimidating as some salespeople can be. David was patient and willing to answer all our questions. The sales manager, Carlos was also courteous and pleasant to deal with when negotiating price. Overall our experience was a very good one and David made our car buying experience that much less stressful. More
I found a good price from this company on the website and recieved an email with a good price quote from Cindy. They were one of three dealerships in the state who had the specific vehicle and specs we aske recieved an email with a good price quote from Cindy. They were one of three dealerships in the state who had the specific vehicle and specs we asked for. I asked Cindy to confirm the quote and to physically confirm the vehicle is new and on their lot. She did and I said we would be there the following day to buy it. The next day I called before driving over and Cindy wasn't there. I asked for her supervisor and was put in touch with Gloria. Gloria pulled my information and said she would help me when we arrived. We had two sick kids home from school that day and I asked Gloria to assure me that the vehicle was there because I didnt want to drag my sick kids an hour for no reason. She also assured me it was there. We arrive and are turned over to a guy named Mke (usually works in used car office in Passaic), because Gloria isn't there. He told me that the car WASNT THERE and the owner family was using it because it was a demo (NOT NEW). He said it's (the vehicle we asked for) five minutes away and will show it to us; promised to make us a great offer. 1 1/2 hours later it shows up, scratched, and chipped, 5000 + miles. He offers a price, nearly the same as a new one and refuses to improve offer. My daughter is throwing up now in the parking lot and my wife is late for work. A classic bait & switch! They have no human decancy to treat my family that way to and have NO SOUL. I went elsewhere and purchased a vehicle today for less than they wanted to sell me there used one. More
I would like to take this opportunity to shed some insight on my very recent experience to Garden State Honda in Clifton. Upon my entering the dealership I was greeted by David Russo who turned out to insight on my very recent experience to Garden State Honda in Clifton. Upon my entering the dealership I was greeted by David Russo who turned out to be a friendly, informative and non pressured sales person. Best of all he was the only person from all the dealerships that I had visited over the previous week in my car shopping that actually called me back with a quote the next day and to see if he could gain my business. Dave and I set an appointment for me to come in the following night and go thru all the details and to see if we could negotiate a price that worked for me. The day I came in to see David Russo he was unfortunately with other clients and he did not want to see me waiting around so he had me work with Alywn Doug another fine gentleman who keeps a level head at all times. Alwyn did his best to work with my sometimes over the top requests and my sometimes not so easy attitude. Once we agreed on the car, model, price and options the sales part is over and it was off to the finance departments desk sign. Having worked in the car business many years earlier, I was anticipating another round of negotiating with the finance manager; typically this is were they try to make up any loss they gave you on the car. I was greeted by Ali who tried his best to reassure me that he was not going to change the final price of the car and that he was really there to arrange for the final financing. Since I was meeting with Ali in the evening we would have to wait until the next day to see if Honda Credit would accept his request for my financing under my original terms. He explained that he would not be in in the next day but would make sure that the financing was taken care of and he even gave me his cell number in case I had questions. The next day came (on Ali's day off) I received a call that Ali had worked everything out and that his counter part Mr. Reiner (who turned out to be another very professional and straight forward Honda Rep)would finalize the transaction for me. I must say that every step of the way I was expecting have my price changed or to hear that this option was no longer included or something that was going to prove to me that I can't trust car sales people. I am happy to say that from Dave, Alwyn, Ali, Reiner and Jose I was proven WRONG! I was no easy sale and they earned my respect. I would recommend dealing with Dave and Alwyn for a calm and relaxed sales experience. And don't be scared of Ali or Reiner they are both fine and professional individuals who can even help with the sales if needed. Dave K More
This is the second car my family has purchased from this Dealership over the last 6 months. To date, my Aunt took delivery of a new Honda Accord 4 sedan, and I have purchased a used Honda Civic coupe for m Dealership over the last 6 months. To date, my Aunt took delivery of a new Honda Accord 4 sedan, and I have purchased a used Honda Civic coupe for my daughter. Both purchase experiences have been outstanding. Everyone at the Dealership went out of their way to exceed our expectations. Simply put, if you are in the market of a new or used vehicle, Garden State Honda is a Dealership you need to visit. Their price, service and selection are superior to anything I have EVER seen! Thank you Garden State Honda!!! More
Lack of communication between departments made me wait for over an hour to finish the paper work so I could drive off with my new vehicle. Other than that, everyone was friendly and very nice. The vehicl for over an hour to finish the paper work so I could drive off with my new vehicle. Other than that, everyone was friendly and very nice. The vehicle is great but there are a few problems for someone who drove a Blazer for twelve years. No storage between the front seats and the brights do not stay on. I drive many dark two lane roads for my job and brights that stay on would help me avoid hitting a deer or driving off the road. More
My experience with garden state honda , Clifton was horrible. Once they sell you the car they do not care what happens after that. I got an insurance with them because the person said that the bank wou horrible. Once they sell you the car they do not care what happens after that. I got an insurance with them because the person said that the bank would finance me with a particular interest rate only if that was taken and I could cancel it at any time with a refund. So I took it and then after a year I got an appointment for getting it cancelled. Although I got an appointment, I was left to wait for an hour before I could meet Ali and after I got tro meet him he said they were out of cancellation forms and I had to come back the next day. Then the next day I got the cancellation form signed and formalities completed and was promised that I would receive my refund within 1.5 months. This was all 9 months back and I am still waiting for the refund. Chase says they have'nt received the refund form and wouldn't consider taking a copy of that form from me and everytime I call Ali he is busy with a costumer...and if at all I get to him he always says he will follow up and give me a call...it never happens. I have left him messages with the secratary, the voice mail machine, gone there personally to meet him ...but always he manages to evade that. I will never even consider buying from this dealership again and I would never recommend it to anyone. It was and still is a horrible experience. More
