I was looking for a Subaru and shopped around for a used car that met my specifications. I finally made my selection at Garavel Subaru in Norwalk, Connecticut. The Subaru Forester was exactly what I was l car that met my specifications. I finally made my selection at Garavel Subaru in Norwalk, Connecticut. The Subaru Forester was exactly what I was looking for. The employee that helped me the most was Shawn Brown. He knew what I wanted and helped me find the perfect car. Mr. Brown was polite, professional and concerned. He made sure that I got exactly what I wanted, and called me after the sale to see that I was satisfied with my purchase. Mr.Brown never tried to give me "the hard sell". He knew he had an excellent product to sell and presented it as such. That "hard sell" was something that I got at other dealerships (ex: you have an hour to make a decision because we have two other people who want this car)and I found it very distasteful. Mr. Brown was never like that. He answered all my questions and then gave me time to decide. I had complete confidence in Mr. Brown's honesty. I was very satisfied with the price of the vehicle as well. I would definitely recommend Garavel to anyone who is looking for a used car, and would suggest that they ask for Shawn Brown to help them. I had a great experience at Georgetown Subaru. Everyone I dealt with, from the sales staff to the business manager, went above and beyond to assist me in the process of selecting the right vehicle. I was tha dealt with, from the sales staff to the business manager, went above and beyond to assist me in the process of selecting the right vehicle. I was thankful to find no "high-pressure" salesmen, just people who genuinely wanted to help me find a quality vehicle. I'm thankful for having a positive experience at Georgetown Subaru. More
STAY AWAY FROM GARAVEL! I was in the market to purchase my familys's fourth subaru. Love the cars, so no complaints there. Having said that, you should stay away from this dealership. There are better opti my familys's fourth subaru. Love the cars, so no complaints there. Having said that, you should stay away from this dealership. There are better options in the area that sell and lease the same outstanding cars. My salesperson demonstrated a shocking lack of familiarity with the product. She told me that in order to get the radio controls on the steering wheel, I had to have a special package, which cost more than the base model I was looking at. When I did some more research and went to the dealership's own website, I found that not only was she wrong, but that they had two cars in inventory that met the exact specifications I was looking for. When I called this to her attention, she said there must be a mistake on the website. When I pressed her, she said I was right, and that she had misunderstood what I was looking for. When I told her I could get the same exact car for less at Stamford Subaru, she said they would pull a bait and switch and that I would end up paying more. She then said that unlike other dealers, if they can't locate the car with the features I wanted at the price agreed upon and deliver when promised, they would put me in an upgraded model so that they could meet the promised delivery date and they would eat the extra cost. She also pitched the 10 year drivetrain warranty they offer. In the end, they couldn't get the car to me when promised, the salesperson denied that she ever made the promises she had made and her manager threatened not to sell me the car. And the drivetrain warranty? What they don't tell you until after the sale is that it only applies if you service the car at their dealership. The salesperson knew this car was for an out of state college student, and therefore the car could not be serviced at Garavel (thus voiding the warranty. In other words, she knew the warranty would be worthless to me. This dealership exemplifies every bad stereotype you have heard about automobile sales people. Too bad, because it is a great car. More
First and foremost, Barbara was my saleswoman and she was absolutely awesome! I'd recommend her in a heartbeat to ANYONE! I had no problems with her whatsoever and believe she is an incredible asset to was absolutely awesome! I'd recommend her in a heartbeat to ANYONE! I had no problems with her whatsoever and believe she is an incredible asset to Garavel Subaru. If it weren't for her, I would have purchased elsewhere. I've elected to delete the remaining information about my experience at Garavel, as I found "SOME SORT OF" resolve from Paul, the owner. Paul is a nice man who is willing to listen and take action - and for that, i'm very thankful. Although not completely satisfied (was hoping for some sort of compensation), i'm relatively content. I am very happy that Gregg has been relocated to their Jeep location. I've leased a new Subaru Outback and love the vehicle! I'm a former owner of 3 Range Rovers, 2 Mercedes, 1 Bentley, 2 Lexus and 2 Toyotas and I have to say, the Outback so far is far more economical, fun to drive and worth the savings in my pocket! So far, 3 people have spoken to me in parking lots about my new car and I rave about it! I tell them to visit Barbara and that she'd take great care of them! We will be back with my in-laws to lease/purchase two more Subaru's & to get another one when our lease is up! Thanks so much, Barb! More
Jessica and her team were wonderful to deal with after just leasing a new Crosstrek. Jessica went ABOVE and BEYOND to ensure the deal was most competitive... This is my 3rd Subaru, however I've never had just leasing a new Crosstrek. Jessica went ABOVE and BEYOND to ensure the deal was most competitive... This is my 3rd Subaru, however I've never had a strong relationship with a dealer in the past for service, etc... I've heard great things from colleagues/friends about Garavel and have become very good about judging customer service. I highly recommend Jessica and her finance team, etc... Call Jessica for a GREAT deal and for great service. Rob More
In hindsight, I should have kept away from Garavel Subaru when I first spoke with them. I called on a car that I had seen on a website, but the CarFax reported that it was in an accident. I asked Garavel abo when I first spoke with them. I called on a car that I had seen on a website, but the CarFax reported that it was in an accident. I asked Garavel about what the nature of the accident is, but they couldn't tell me (but they ASSURED me that they don't straighten frames, so it wasn't that bad). So, I still have no idea what happened to my car. It could have been a fender-bender....or it might not have. Taking the car for a test-drive, I should have resisted the salesman's pressure to put a deposit down TODAY and such. But, I didn't. I should have also inspected the vehicle thoroughly before offering to buy it, because (of course) when I handed over the check and went outside to put my plates on, we noticed numerous problems (this was, of course, after waiting an hour to be seen, and then another hour or two to get the paperwork done). The vehicle was billed as a Subaru Certified Used Vehicle, but I joke (bitterly) that the only thing certified about it is that, yes, it is indeed used. The vehicle featured numerous pieces of "road rash" which, while it may be expected in a used vehicle, should have been caught by point 135 and 144 of the Subaru Certified Vehicle checklist. They seemed fairly unwilling to fix it, and eventually acceded to putting some touch-up paint on it (which is quite visible). I was having difficulty seeing out of my windshield during rain, so I assumed that they didn't carry out point 24 ("Windshield wipers and washer front/ rear check"). Of course, I can't be sure if they did replace the wiper blades, because the windshield is so filthy that I'm strongly considering having it replaced entirely. Upon driving the vehicle home for the first time, I noticed a rhythmic vibration in the car, which turned out to be a bad wheel bearing. If they took it on the highway (as you figure they would do to satisfy point 101), they would have noticed it. The tread on the tires still does not look good, but they assured me that it was within parameters (I'm waiting for a tire to go so I can replace the whole lot). Last, while not covered by the Subaru Certified Vehicle checklist, the battery in my vehicle was going bad. The entire experience reeks of a sales staff that received a car and attempted to get it out the door as quickly as possible, without allowing the service people the proper opportunity to do their job. The only good thing about Garavel Subaru, in my opinion, is Gregg Cantandella and the bulk of his service crew. Gregg himself is a customer-conscious professional who is empathetic to customer needs, and has a "can-do" attitude. The bulk of his service crew have a similar focus. The sales, and sales-support staff, though, do not seem to have the same focus, and committed numerous flubs that damaged my opinion of Garavel Subaru. Multiple times a week I tell myself that I should have gone with another car from another dealership. More
I was very impressed with the helpfulness, knowledge, and overall friendliness of Miles Shapiro. He was extremely patient especially when I had to keep rescheduling the appointment, and when I finally arrive overall friendliness of Miles Shapiro. He was extremely patient especially when I had to keep rescheduling the appointment, and when I finally arrived, I was seen right away, and he went to work on what I was looking for in a new car and the great deal he could offer me. He was willing to be fair and work with my pricing needs and wants for a new car. So much in fact, that I am actually paying less for the new car that I am leasing then what I was paying beforehand. He also had an awesome sense of humor which is always great when signing a ridiuclous amount of paperwork. I have been leasing Subaru's from this dealership for almost ten years now, and Miles Shapiro was definitely memorable and I would highly reccomend him to anyone looking to buy a new car. More
