Eric and Derek Dream Team! Eric and Derek are the best! I am a first time car buyer, and my experience was as easy as can be. I made an appointment with Eric at Anderson Vol Eric and Derek are the best! I am a first time car buyer, and my experience was as easy as can be. I made an appointment with Eric at Anderson Volkswagen of Crystal Lake upon the high recommendation of my parents, who have purchased their last two cars from Eric at Anderson Mazda. I showed up to the dealership and met Derek, who already had the car plated and warming up for my test drive. Within minutes I was outside, in the car, learning about the various features and packages applied to the vehicle. Derek was awesome as he gave me a comprehensive overview of the car. The test drive was fun and relaxing. Other dealerships pried me for information while I was trapped in a test drive. Rather than prematurely asking about finances or my car purchase deadline, Derek focused on the car, its functionality, and features that he felt would be most applicable to my life. He also mentioned similar vehicles that were in their used inventory that I may also be interested in. After the test drive, I was able to explore the car on my own and privately consult with my parents who came for support (and to say hi to Eric). I greatly appreciated how I was able to converse with my parents without any employees snooping, attempting to overhear us, or pressuring me to make a quick decision. Everyone at the dealership was friendly and open for questions when needed. Derek informed me of any incentives that I qualified for and the Volkswagen warranty if I were to take the car to Canada, where I live for half of the year. At the finance stage, I chatted with Eric, who crunched the numbers for me. He clearly showed me the breakdown of the bill and explained the purpose of each charge - which, as a first time buyer, was especially nice. The financial conversation was very straightforward and friendly. Eric made me feel comfortable and respected. As a young and inexperienced female buyer, previous dealerships treated me like a child, tacked on imaginary fees, and tried to hide details in the fine print. There was transparency throughout the entire process as I worked with Eric and Derek at Volkswagen of Crystal Lake. I purchased the vehicle (a new 2019 manual VW Jetta) and drove it home the same day. The entire process took under 2 hours from the time that I walked into the door for a test drive to the time that I was shaking hands with Eric and Derek for a final sale agreement. The purchased car paperwork was a breeze - again, very clear and transparent. While signing the documents, Derek had my car washed and plated for me, without me asking. Once the check was written, he did another comprehensive overview of the car with me, ensuring that I know every feature and setting. He also set my phone up with Apple CarPlay which was a plus. The final car overview took place in their indoor mechanic facility, which was also awesome, because it was very cold and snowy outside. I cannot stress enough how amazing the crew at Anderson Crystal Lake VW is! Derek and Eric are incredible, and I would love to work with them again in the future.
