On April 30, 2024 I went into Flood in Narragansett to purchase a truck. Dealer reviewed my registration, and truck and offered $45K for a trade in allowance. I provided a $500 deposit via my credit car purchase a truck. Dealer reviewed my registration, and truck and offered $45K for a trade in allowance. I provided a $500 deposit via my credit card and arranged to have the windows tinted on the new truck being purchased. The next day, I inquired about having Flood apply a spray-in bed liner. They offered a price which I agreed to and was asked to close on the truck and provide full payment prior to the work being done. On May 6th , I provided full payment and closed the deal, signing and receiving all the required paperwork and insuring the new truck. Two days after closing on the truck, I received a call from a sales manager at the dealership stating that I had misrepresented my truck that was traded in. My truck was a buyback vehicle where, before I bought it in 2018, Ford took it back from the original purchaser and repainted the back door. All of that information is clearly noted on the Carfax, which I assumed they would have looked at prior to offering a vehicle trade in value. They wanted to re-negotiate the deal after I owned the new truck, asking for another $5,000. The sales manager admitted in writing that the vehicle history report was not available at the time they offered a trade in value. Principle kicked in and I was unwilling to renegotiate for a truck I already owned. Possession is 9/10th of the law and since I had contracted with Flood to do an aftermarket spray liner in the bed, they refused to give me my truck which was paid for. Had I gone home with it the day I bought it, it would have been a different story. They sent me back my check which they had endorsed, but I have had to hire an attorney to try and get my $500 deposit back and the money I paid for the window tinting. Two weeks later I have not received my money. More
We just bought our second vehicle from Flood and are delighted, again, with every aspect of the purchase. Marc in sales and John in finance were state-of-the-art. I did my research on the vehicle over many months and knew what I wanted, and did not feel pressured to upgrade. And Michelle's email correspondence regarding my test drive right through after purchase follow through was great as well, along with Mike's prompt answers to questions. Mike even personally cleaned the car impeccably prior to my picking it up! I don't think any car purchase is ever easy, but this one was much less stressful than any other I've made. This dealership fails to provide service, let alone good service. Made an appointment 2 months in advance. Dropped the vehicle off early, gave them a week to change a battery, and they still had not broug service. Made an appointment 2 months in advance.
