It's a shame there isn't a rating that says: These People Suck - or that's what I'd rate Fiore's. This is going to be a bit of a story - so maybe you better get a cup of coffee and have a comfy seat. In Fe Suck - or that's what I'd rate Fiore's. This is going to be a bit of a story - so maybe you better get a cup of coffee and have a comfy seat. In February of 2010 I was ready to trade my 2006 Ford Focus ZX3 in as it was nearing 100,000 miles. Fiore VW had a 2010 Golf I was interested in and after getting their internet price I went over to the dealership to look at the car. I arrived at about 4:30 pm on a Wednedsay evening and walked into the VW showroom to look at the car that I was interested in as it was desplayed in the sales area inside. I stood around for about ten minutes, and although there were two folks in the sales area no one approached me. I looked the car over, got some literature and at about ten minutes of five the lady in the office turned off the lights and walked out the door. The other salesman , who was busy on his cell phone followed her out the door. When I followed them BOTH out the door he turned and asked me where I came from. When I told him I had been in the showroom for the last twenty minutes he told me I'd have to come back when they were open. Didn't ask me for my name, didn't give me a business card, they both just got in their cars and left !!! I walked up to the Toyota dealership owned also by Fiore and asked if anyone was interested in selling me a car. I was handed over to Bob Danella, one of the salesmen at the Toyota side of the business. Bob was a very nice fellow - and I got the deal I wanted on the Golf. Twenty minutes later and I was the owner of a new VW. When we test drove the car I complained about the balance on the tires. Bob told me that the Continental tires had a habit of "flat-spotting" and after I drove the car for a few miles the tires would be fine. After a few days of thumping and bumping I called the service department to see about getting the tires balanced and checked on the car. The lady at the service desk told me they couldn't possibly look at the car for at least a week. So I waited a week and called again - same story. She explained that they were too busy with the Toyota recalls and just couldn't fit the car in. I figured the heck with it and took the car to a local tire shop and had them check the balance on the tires. What I learned at the tire shop was that two of the tires were of marginal quality and actually should be replaced. They did balance the wheels though and although the car was worlds better - it was still a long way from being right. I again called Fiore's and requested a service appointment. They were still busy with the Toyota recalls for the sudden acceleration issue and since the Toyota and VW dealerships share the same service department they again told me they were too busy. By now I've had it with their excuses so I called the Tire Rack and ordered four new alloy wheels and tires. When they arrived I installed them and the car rode as smooth as glass. I again called Fiore's and asked about reimbursement for the defective tires. The service advisor said they would get back to me. No calls were returned. I called three seperate times concerning the tire issue and never got any satisfaction of any kind. When the car had about 1,100 miles on it I experienced brake failure one morning going to work. I was approaching a road construction area and when I hit the brakes the pedal went to the floor. I stopped the car with the emergency brake and called Fiore's to again request a service appointment to have the brakes looked at. The service advisor told me it would be three weeks before they could look at the car. When I asked about a loaner I was told they had none available. If I wanted to rent a car they would make the arrangements. I asked to speak with the owner - I was put on hold and eventually dropped. I called back twice, got the same treatment and eventually just gave up. I took the car to a local independent shop who told me there was a service bulletin on this particular problem of pedal fade and he took care of the issue at minimal charge to me. When I called FIore's and asked about getting the car in to make sure everything was indeed ok, you guessed it. Too busy. The next issue with the car involved oil consumption. This Golf is a 2.5 five cylinder engine. It averages around a quart usage in a thousand miles of driving. When I called the service desk at Fiore's I was told this was normal. In looking at articles on the internet I found that this engine does indeed have an oil consumption issue. When I called Fiore's - they were again too busy and told me to just add a quart of oil as this was normal. The 2010 Golfs have three year - 36,000 miles free maintenance and when the car was ready for the first oil change - yep - You guessed it - They were too darn busy. After checking with the local independent shop he suggested adding Lucas Synthetic oil treatment to the next change and see if it didn't curb the oil usage. I'm happy to report the additive did indeed help with the consumption. The car has never been back to the dealer for any of these services because getting an appointment with these people is near impossible. I contacted Martin Winterkorn, who is the CEO of North American VW Operations and he forwarded my complaint to a very nice lady by the name of Katie Fox. While she listened to my tale of woe and offered to reimburse me for my out of pocket costs, she failed to do the one thing I asked her to do, and that was to get to the bottom of Fiore's service issues. People who sell you a car for nearly $20,000 and then forget you exist should not have a VW franchise. This is a very nice little car and the build quality, handling and performance of this VW product is excellent. It's a darn shame I don't live closer to Central VW in DuBois, Pa. or I'd have my service performed there. I understand they are a quality dealership who do indeed take care of their customers. So the bottom line is simply this...... If you want a VW - by all means buy one..... but stay away from Fiore's. These people really SHOULD NOT have the franchise. More
