Well, I should have trusted my gut with Fields and stayed far, far away. The management is deceitful and Volvo is steadily going downhill… management here is magnifying that. I purchased a certified 2021 far, far away. The management is deceitful and Volvo is steadily going downhill… management here is magnifying that. I purchased a certified 2021 XC90 Recharge with low miles after being a loyal Volvo owner. Within the first few weeks the car was acting funny - not starting up right away, hesitating to go into reverse or drive, lots of hiccups. I thought maybe it was just a learning curve because the shifter, park, and plug-in component were a change from my previous Volvo. It became abundantly clear that this car had issues, so I took it in to have it looked at. Volvo acted like it was no big deal, just needed a new battery and within a few hours, sent me on my way. A month or so later, 5 hours into on a 6 hour drive to Michigan, the car had several alerts pop up and would only drive up to around 25 miles/ hour (on a fast road). We were on the way to get gas, so I thought it was just a system thing to make sure we could minimize fuel consumption. Then about 5 minutes later the car completely stopped. It was till on but it wouldn’t move at all. My son and I spent 3 hours on the side of the road waiting for Volvo roadside, who never showed, so we had to call a local tow truck. I called Northfield the following day to discuss the issue and they were pretty unhelpful until I posted a negative review. Wow, that got their attention. My car was towed to a Volvo in Kalamazoo and the GM and service manager promised to have total oversight throughout the entire process. Well, they were actually going to tow my car back to Northfield Volvo, but changed their minds… I’ll get to that in a bit. But they sure kept mentioning how they would like me to update my Google review. After 2 months at the Kalamazoo Volvo, with most communication coming from a service manager in Michigan, vs the hands-on support I was promised from Fields, I finally got my car back. And once again, I was very bluntly asked to update my review. But as an ethical person, I wanted to make sure my review was honest, and I knew that meant waiting to see if my car was fixed or if this would just prove to be a lemon. Less than 1 month later, my car hesitated to start for 5 minutes while 30 minutes from home. I messaged the Fields team outraged that one again, I was caught in a potentially dangerous position, with my child, because of this problematic vehicle. They attempted to blame the issue on Kalamazoo Volvo, saying that if they did something, they would not warranty the work. You can imagine my surprise to hear 1. That they were throwing another Volvo that they been overseeing under the bus 2. That my warranty (certified by Volvo) would not be valid. This is when I had to scratch my head and wonder if they decided to have Kalamazoo do the work so they could shift the onus to another party. Shady, shady. The car spent another week in the shop, they drove it 100 miles (not sure exactly why they thought that would help). They after the service manager used my car as his for a week, I was told they saw a system error but they couldn’t find anything wrong. Wow, really comforting to know that the $80k car I’m driving could just breakdown at any given moment. And the only thing these guys care about is their (mostly fake) google rating. This is not the car company I want to be associated with. And this dealership is exactly the one to stay far away from. They will sell you vehicles with issues and promise perfection. Do not trust them - it’s not worth it. More
