I am very disappointed I like the dealership for their service department and the work they do on my 2015 Tucson (I would give them 5 stars on that). I am very disappointed and dissatisfied with the false and misleading pricing tools they have on there website (which could easily be fixed to be accurate and not waste people’s time!!!). I brought my car in for routine maintenance and asked if they could provide me with an appraisal on my vehicle, as I have been thinking of making a change because I own my vehicle outright and figured the sizable down payment would result in a significant reduction in the monthly payment. When I was contacted with the appraisal amount, almost $9k, I started to look at new vehicles to get an idea of what a payment would look Like. After finding a vehicle I liked, and putting the appraisal amount in the Family Hyundai website lease calculator, the website showed that the monthly payment would be roughly $56 per month. I then called them and scheduled an appointment with one of their salespeople. While on the phone with him I mentioned the amount reflected on the monthly payment and he said with a down payment of that size the payment should be very low. I told him I would be in after work to discuss it further. When I got to the dealership and showed him the stock number of the vehicle and screenshots of the results from their calculator he said he would need to double check the pricing and went to the counter to discuss it with a manager. He asked my zip code and where I lived/would register the vehicle. He came back and told me the payment would be approximately $170 a month. When I asked why there is such a significant difference in the monthly rate, he replied it is due to sales tax (something the dealership and its salesperson are aware of), document fee (another cost they know up front), and county tax (a third cost they know the amount to) that ARE NOT factored in when the estimate is provided through the website. I have a serious issue with this because these are KNOWN costs that can EASILY be factored into the calculator. I do not expect to have an exact amount perfectly calculated, but the monthly estimate provided should be reasonably close (within $10-15) to what an actual payment would be and NOT BE OFF BY ALMOST $120 PER MONTH!!!! I have an 813 credit score so I did meet the requirements posted below the amount listed on the website, just incase someone from Family Hyundai reads this and thinks the significant difference is due to me having subpar credit (the previous 2 vehicles I purchased from them have been at either 0% or 0.9% rates). This was a complete waste of my time, as I told the salesperson on the phone I did not want to get involved in the process if the monthly payment could not be kept below $100 (he previously said that would not be an issue when I called in to schedule the appointment). SUGGESTIONS: Fix the calculator to provide more accurate amounts that include all known costs Have your salespeople be upfront with someone about the calculator not factoring in the sales and county taxes (as these could be thousands of dollars) and significantly increase the monthly payment (AGAIN, MY SITUATION RESULTED IN ALMOST $120 PER MONTH DIFFERENCE!!!!!). I will let everyone that asks about my vehicle and experiences with Family Hyundai know about this experience and tell them that what is presented on the website could significantly change at the dealership. More
