I purchased a Durango from this dealership a year or so ago. It was a stressful time, but nothing went horribly wrong. When I thought to trade in my truck for something that had better MPG, I stopped in to ago. It was a stressful time, but nothing went horribly wrong. When I thought to trade in my truck for something that had better MPG, I stopped in to check them out. Travis was super nice as I was telling him what I was looking for. He immediately said he had the perfect vehicle and walked me to the VERY back lot to look at a Jeep 4xe. OK, it will fit two car seats - maybe - what's the price range? 60K with a 10K dealer markup. WHOA! Let's back up! We clarified needs and added price range/payment. I told him that me trading in my truck has to make sense. We walked back and he searched on his computer. A couple options would put me in a model year older than I currently had or one with more mileage - which didn't make sense to me. The discussion was getting a little tense and I could tell Travis was getting frustrated because he could meet one requirement, but not the other. He asked me which one do you want, gas mileage or room for car seats? Both. I let him know that if he didn't have anything that fit, it's OK, respect for trying. Travis said he definitely had something, he just had to find it. Travis then said "I found the perfect one! come on I'll show you. He walked me out explaining it was a 202 VW. After walking out to the VW, the conversation went like this: "What trim level is this?" "This is a 'L'." "Can you tell me the price again?" "uh, it's 29,955. There are no dealer mark-ups on our used cars." "What does it have that makes it priced $3-4K above what a new one costs?" "I don't know what a new one costs...What do you think, are you interested?" "Not if I you justify paying more for this over a new one at VW. You're supposed to create some sort of value." "So now you're telling me how to do my job?" "Ya know, it's becoming apparent that this isn't working. I'm going to go ahead and leave. I thank you for your time." As I walked back to my truck he was yelling after me that I was worthless and a complete waste of his time. I don't think a dealership as a whole should be judged based on one interaction, but I also think the dealership should have a culture of finding cars that customers need, rather than finding customers who are willing to take the cars on your lot. My interaction with Travis tells me that he was only concerned with getting me to buy something - ANYTHING. I purchased from Toyota a few days later. More
