They'll try to scam you Recently bought a car from Elgin Hyundai. Beware: if you are buying a Certified Pre-Owned car, they will try to charge you extra for certification. Recently bought a car from Elgin Hyundai. Beware: if you are buying a Certified Pre-Owned car, they will try to charge you extra for certification. They claim that the price they list on their website is only for "pre-certified" cars, which is a crock. I called the out for it, and they dropped it. They'll also try to charge you an astronomical amount for a paint protection package that they've "already applied to the car". Don't let them charge you for it. They do this so they can scam old ladies and people who don't read the fine print of the price sheet. After calling out the salesperson (Lou) for these scummy tactics, all he could reply with was "hey, we're just doing business". I've had my certified, 150-point inspected Sonata for two weeks now and I've already had to make a service appointment because the hood won't open, the headlights are going haywire, and the engine is making a strange vibrating sound. More
