Dear Chris G, Please understand that there was no attempt at deception. That is not how we do business. We are not dishonest, as you suggest. You expressed interest in a vehicle. We provided payment, term, and money down, to which you and your husband agreed. Furthermore, you wanted a flat amount out of pocket, and your transaction reflects this. You received everything for which you asked. Comparing this to an offer that has different terms is simply not a fair point, nor is it relevant. We don’t deserve this rating. You purchased a vehicle at the terms to which you agreed. Sincerely, Phil Wolhar Chief Marketing Officer East Hills Auto Group pwolhar@easthillsjeep.com

Phil, i can see your scripted response is as usual ,your company does nothing wrong. You were not there when we came in.I did express interest in a vehicle your website ( Darwin) offeredfor the vehicle at $350 per month With $3000 down.I believe that’s relevant, wouldn’t you say Phil?No one at Sayville knows anything about it? That’s not deception. Based on the sticker price your sweet talking Gerry Sanotore first Offer $ 502 a month with $7000 down? I guess seeing Two retired old folks Come in this would be easy. We asked numerous times for a better price off Sticker to buy for cash only to have him return with a lower lease? After agreeing I asked for buy out after lease he showed me $15000. I guess that wasn’t enough it went to $17000.It was a long Day. Finally after all was said and done there was never one thing said about jacking up the sticker by $3000. It’s quite clear your company is DISHONEST!!!! I only hope someone calls me to make things right?

Chris, We, in no way, operate as you say. I don't see any internet lead from our Darwin source to indicate a different payment. I've checked under your name, your phone number and your email address. I can't respond to what I don't see. Lease buyouts are set by financial institutions. We are sorry you are so upset. We offered a new Subaru to you and your wife. You agreed to the terms. We delivered to you the vehicle. We did nothing wrong. Sincerely, Phil Wolhar Chief Marketing Officer East Hills Auto Group pwolhar@easthillsjeep.com

Dear Mr. Adams, Your business is very important to us. I’ve read the correspondence between you and our general sales manager and based on what you’ve written, I see we could have done a better job delivering your Volkswagen Tiguan. While I am surprised our detail department did not clean your vehicle in a manner satisfactory to you at time of delivery, the starburst in your windshield, the issue with your Bluetooth and the need for the second key leads me to believe the make-ready and delivery was rushed and my team overlooked the basics. I’m led to believe we have replaced your windshield, we’ve fixed your Bluetooth, and we have given you the second key. I understand there were concerns about scratches on the rear bumper. My service manager stated there was an appointment this morning to address the scratches; however, we did not see you come in. I would be happy to reschedule this appointment at a convenient time for you. Would you please let me know when is best? Thank you for bringing this matter to my attention. Sincerely, Phil Wolhar Chief Marketing Officer East Hills Auto Group pwolhar@easthillsjeep.com

Good morning Phil, I appreciate the response and while the effort provided to make up for dropping the ball was made, unfortunately my frustration and resentment for this purchase continues. I did have an appointment, but unfortunately I woke up to a check engine light and rough idle on a car that supposedly throughly serviced and brakes that squeal at the slightest touch. Your dealership doesn’t offer a pick up and drop off service and I can’t continue to drive an hour each way, only to be dissatisfied. Thankfully the car has warranty and a closer vw dealership is capable of looking at my engine problems. It’s my hope that this issue is minor and doesn’t require anything more than a proper servicing.

Dear Peter, All vehicles that are not driven regularly can be subject to batteries’ loss of charge. Your vehicle was towed to us, we changed the battery on a timely basis, and your vehicle is now operating as designed. East Hills Subaru of Roslyn and East Hills Subaru of Sayville did nothing wrong. We service what we sell – even when the vehicle is brought to our sister store. I’m sure you can understand that we do not pick up and drop off for service outside of our market and only for emergency service in our local market. We weren’t being dismissive; it is not part of our business model to drop off vehicles from our Roslyn store to your home in Setauket. Sincerely, Phil Wolhar Chief Marketing Officer East Hills Auto Group pwolhar@easthillsjeep.com

Phil, As I told you service people, the vehicle is driven regularly, just not particularly far. The problem with your dealership is exemplified by your response, instead of dealing with the faulty battery and failure of the system your blaming the user. The battery failed, it would not take a charge, even though the car is driven at least three times a week and has only 6000 miles. Your response is its my fault for not driving enough. The car was driven for 3 hours and over 200 miles the day before it failed. Own the problem if you don't want to alienate your clients.

Aug 14, 2023 -

East Hills Subaru of Sayville responded

Dear Peter, Perhaps I am not addressing the issue clearly. Subaru is the builder of your vehicle. For whatever reason, your vehicle’s battery died. Was it because you drove it little? Perhaps. Was it because the battery was weak from the outset? Perhaps. Was it because of something else? Perhaps. This could have happened with any vehicle from any manufacturer. Again, East Hills Subaru of Roslyn and East Hills Subaru of Sayville did not cause the issue. We retail vehicles and we service vehicles. We sold you a vehicle and we fixed it when you needed help. Own the problem? I did. And I will continue to do so as part of my pledge to you. Your vehicle is running with a new battery in it. Your negative reviews should be aimed at the manufacturer, not the dealers who are keeping you on the road. Sincerely, Phil Wolhar Chief Marketing Officer East Hills Auto Group pwolhar@easthillsjeep.com

You need to look up the term "own the problem", blaming the manufacturer who you claim to represent is exactly the opposite of owning the problem. The fact that you and your team by your own statements have no idea what caused the problem is again the opposite of not owning the problem. You are the face of Subaru, if they build a defective car you need to make it right. Wasting two full days of my time and talking to me like it is my fault is again the opposite of owning the problem. Honestly if your service people admitted it was their problem and apologized I would have just moved on.

Pete, What caused your battery to fail was not caused by my service team. You are seeking an apology for something we did not cause. If by owning the problem you mean, "You are the face of Subaru, if they build a defective car you need to make it right." We have. Your Subaru had a problem, we installed a new battery, and we fixed your car in a timely manner. Now your vehicle is running as designed. We wish you the best, but at this point, there is nothing we can do to assist you further on this matter. Sincerely, Phil Wolhar Chief Marketing Officer East Hills Auto Group pwolhar@easthillsjeep.com

I hope Subaru takes note, the reason people buy these cars is reliability, basically you have said the car will die at random intervals and strand me and you are fine with that. I should be happy you fix it after I manage to find my way home. You sold me a 40K+ car that I don't want to drive because it is going to strand me. Terrible car terrible dealer STAY AWAY FROM BOTH
