My experience wasn't all bad, but having experienced working with fixed pricing dealers in the past that don't force options, I just couldn't convince myself that this was a good way to go. In summary - we couldn't agree on a price, and the vehicle didn't have the features my wife demanded that existed on the competition. Add in pricing games and manager roulette in a process that takes far too long and lacks transparency, this just wasn't the right place for us to do business - even if it was the right product. My family was in the market for a new Minivan or 3-row crossover. We were cross-shopping the Odyssey and Sienna. I chose the Costco program for it's "no haggle", pre-negotiated pricing, and was referred to Earnhardt Honda. After submitting my info, Marcelino called within 15 minutes. While I had a rough idea of pricing from email/phone correspondence, I had to visit the store to get the whole picture per Costco's policy. Upon my first visit, I met with Marcelino who took a copy of my license and Costco card, then was presented with my Costco pricing for a couple of options via invoice sheets. I explained that I was only there to look at the vehicle, and that I wouldn't be making the purchase that night until my wife (who was not with me) had a chance to drive the car. He seemed fine w/ that at the time. BTW, the Costco card and license were still in his pocket 15 minutes later - I had to ask for them back. When presented with invoices to determine Costco pricing (they use a fixed value above/below invoice), there was a separate page listed the "discounted" price for their add-ons, which I assumed at the time were all optional. It wasn't apparent that some of these were not until much later in the process, but the Costco disclosure was that we could "order" a vehicle w/o these choices if we really didn't want them. That's not something we were willing to wait for. Marce showed me a 2014 Honda Odyssey EX-L. We went around back to see some of the other color options, as well as an option with rear-entertainment that I was also considering. After seeing the single tiny screen, I knew I didn't want to pay the extra $1500+ for it. Thus, I was offered an accompanied test drive of the EX-L where we went over features of the car. Once we returned, he took several minutes in the back and showed me a couple of "out the door" prices (which included the full addendum list of options), Each time he went back to do something about pricing or questions, it was a good 5-10 minutes to "run the numbers" with someone. I mentioned I wasn't interested in the options, and he hinted that they might come down on price if that's what it took. But wait, I thought this was a no-haggle Costco pricing option. So, I thanked him for his time, and said I would go home and come back w/ my wife for a test drive before we committed. That's where he brought out Leo, who's job was to see if they could do "anything" to make the deal happen that night. Despite claiming no pressure, it seemed like they felt like they weren't confident enough in their process that they were going to make the sale. After reminding them that my marriage was worth more than buying a car for my wife sight unseen. they let me leave with a promise that I'd bring my wife back later (we ended up coming back 3 days later than promised). He kept in touch via email, which I appreciated. A week later, I brought my wife with me to drive the vehicle. Despite being shown as available on the website, they said they no longer had the EX-L I drove, and brought around the EX-L w/ entertainment system. This was a color my wife liked much better, but we really didn't want the extra option of the DVD player. We went around back again to see other colors, and then took the test drive so she could get the feel of the car. She wasn't as impressed w/ this car as she was the Sienna because of the packaging (we had to go to the top-tier Touring Elite to get blind-spot monitoring, something that's available on mid-trim SE Siennas), and it "felt heavier" to drive (coming out of a Prius, that was a big consideration). Having just driven a Sienna down the street at a price that was much less out the door with the right balance of options and NO forced add-ons, we weren't ready to commit. We also really didn't want the added window tint because we knew we'd be moving to a state in the near future where it was illegal. In fairness, they offered to remove it for free if/when that time came. After being offered to "trade" with dealers in Northern AZ for the right color w/o DVD option (something we didn't want to do in interest of cost/time), we decided to see where they'd go with price on this one since dealers are always more motivated to move existing inventory. This is where the "what if" game on pricing started. Each time, they'd spend 10 minutes or more "running the numbers" while my wife and I sat comfortable, but anxious on their sofas. After 1-2 numbers games, they brought out Leo again to take over. He tells some great stories, but for a couple who was already tired, we just wanted the bottom line. We were already slightly frustrated and ready to leave, but wanted to give them a fair chance. Again, we heard how they were a "no pressure" dealership... but it seems that the time games do just that. It finally came down to "what price do you want to be at", at which we explained our OTD pricing of the Sienna, which had a rebate at the time that Honda wasn't offering. Another 10-15 min later, they came back with the number I knew would be the original Odyssey OTD w/o their addendum sticker (the original Costco price). It was still higher than the Sienna, the vehicle still lacked features we wanted, and had features we didn't want. To be fair, it was a fair price - I just didn't like spending as much time as we did to get there. Why does the customer have to earn that discount? Leo finally said "You know, it's usually the Man, the Money, or the Machine that kills the deal. Usually it's the Man or the Money. It's pretty rare for us to be the machine.". Truthfully, it was the machine, the price-point, and the options we didn't want that we felt we were paying for in the price difference. We wanted to give it some thought, though I think my wife had already made up her mind. In fairness - they probably would have taken a loss at the identical price, but the lack of transparency didn't leave us with any idea on why they were where they were at. At that point, they had wasted a ton of our time. We left stating that we'd consider both options. We heard Marce muttering under his breath in frustration as we walked out the door. Rightly so, as we went right down the street and, despite being nearly closing time, bought the Sienna after a 2nd quick drive from a truly no-haggle, no hassle dealer. That total purchase process took less time there than the pricing games played here at Earnhardt. At Earnhardt, the front half of the experience was great. It's the process of negotiation that wasn't. The slogan "No Bull" - I wish I could believe it. Please present your BEST price first and stick with it. Don't force add-ons. If it's right, the consumer will buy. If they want the add-ons, they'll ask for them. Otherwise, position the product and pricing where you make a fair profit, and you'll win on volume. Honda has a good product. Their dealers don't need cheap tactics to turn a profit if they price fairly in the first place. More

This was the worst car shopping experience of my life. I don't even know where to begin. The salesman confused the xxxx out of us. He was telling us stuff that had nothing to do with anything. I asked about the internet price of $100 a month for a civic and he said there is no civic for $100 per month they just put that as a nationwide internet special to get people to come in. Really?? Nice. He would never tell me about price and just spoke in gibberish. Finally I said do we need to speak with a finance manger or something to figure out prices? He said no then said something about a $500 rebate we wouldn't get but they get. What? Why are you even telling me something that has nothing to do with us. I was just done. We left there went to Toyota and purchased our vehicle there. NOT RECOMMENDED AT ALL!!!!!! More

I did ALOT of research before buying and contacted several dealerships to gauge pricing, but when it came down to it I did get a great price on a new Civic EX. Joe was very easy to work with and was not pushy, even as I held firm to keep the price as low as possible. I highly value customer service and chose to work with this dealership based on the reviews I had read on this website and others. I recommend this dealership and Joe, and I would not hesitate to buy another car from there. More

My scores are based on our overall purchasing of a new Accord. They did a decent job of almost redeeming themselves after a not so stellar first attempt. Turns out this Accord Sport is a noisy turd. Terrible wind and road noise. Tires fit to the Sport are awful. Quality of Honda has really dropped compared to previous four that we have owned. More

I know my Honda Civic. This new purchase was my 4th Civic. I was going to trade my 2002 Civic with new one 3 years ago, but was told that new model change was imminent. So I waited. It turned out that I was ready (to buy), but the car was not. When I heard that Honda was doing emergency tweaking on the 2012 model, I decided to wait again (I am patient!). After 18 months, Honda came up with unprecedented improvements and got good reviews for 2013 Civic. This time the car was ready and so was I. That would make me a perfect customer, right? First I went to the closest Honda dealership where I purchased my last Civic. I could have bought the car there for the convenience of being in my neighborhood. Controlling my urge and armed with more information, I wanted to try another dealership which turned out to be the Earnhardt Honda in Avondale, AZ. My sales person was Francisco Rojas who was pleasant and knowledgeable. But most of all he was very patient and treated me with professional courtesy throughout my time in the showroom. I would also like to commend his managers who were supportive of their sales staff to get the deal done. Lastly I must mention that the reason I went to Earnhardt Honda was the Costco Auto Buying program they offer. It is essentially a hassel-free program as long as you do not have a trade-in. Since I had my old Civic to be traded, there was still a deal to be made. Earnhardt Honda came ahead in every aspect of the deals and services. I am looking forward to seeing Francisco for my first oil change. More
