We’re very sorry for the difficult situation this customer experienced. The vehicle in question was vetted by multiple sources, including the lender, as a clean vehicle with a proper VIN. We had no knowledge at the time of sale that the vehicle’s multiple VINs were fabricated and that it was a stolen vehicle. Credit goes to law enforcement for figuring this out and handling the situation in a professional manner. As soon as we were made aware, we took immediate steps to make it right for the customer. We offered a full refund, paid off the loan, and refunded all dealer expenses and fees. We also offered the customer a discount toward a replacement vehicle. Unfortunately, the customer declined these offers and instead demanded that we provide him with a replacement vehicle for free, at no cost at all, which was never promised or offered and is unreasonable. At Dyer Chevy, we take pride in operating with honesty, transparency, and integrity. While rare, unexpected situations can occur in the automotive industry, and our priority is always to act quickly and fairly for our customers. My Response to Dyer Chevrolet’s Statement On April 15, 2025, I purchased a Cadillac Escalade from Dyer Chevrolet Lake Wales. On August 20, 2025, law enforcement came to my home and seized the vehicle after confirming it was stolen with a fraudulent VIN. Dyer’s statement leaves out critical facts: 1. Loan Not Immediately Paid Off – They claim the loan was “taken care of right away,” but Capital One confirmed the payoff was not processed until September 4, 2025 — over two weeks later. During that time, I was still legally responsible for payments on a stolen car. 2. Payments and Insurance Ignored – I made over $6,500 in loan payments, plus insurance and fees, toward a vehicle I never truly owned. Dyer has refused to reimburse me for those payments, claiming I “drove the vehicle” as if that excuses selling stolen property. 3. Binding Promise of Replacement – The General Manager, David, texted me on August 25 confirming a “complete reversal of the deal” and that they were “looking for another Escalade.” Later, their Car Director emailed me on August 26 repeating this. This was a clear commitment. Now, they are backtracking and pretending I “demanded a free car.” The reality: I only asked them to honor the replacement they promised in writing. 4. Red Flags Missed – It took law enforcement less than 30 seconds to notice the fraudulent VIN sticker. Even before delivery, when I tried to activate OnStar/SiriusXM, the system pulled up a 2023 VIN mismatch — another red flag that Dyer ignored. A licensed dealer has the legal responsibility to verify VINs before selling a vehicle. 5. Pattern of Complaints – Dyer Chevrolet and other Dyer dealerships have multiple consumer complaints across Florida. This isn’t an isolated case. This is not about asking for something extra. It’s about being made whole under Florida consumer law: • Loan cancellation with no credit damage ✅ • Reimbursement of all payments, fees, and insurance ✅ • Replacement Escalade as promised ✅ Anything less is not fairness, it’s avoidance of responsibility.

Your statement is misleading and omits critical facts. Here are the corrections: 1. “Paid off the loan immediately” – False. My loan was not paid until September 4, 2025, more than two weeks after police seized the stolen Escalade on August 20. During that time, I remained legally responsible for a loan balance on a stolen vehicle. 2. “Refunded all dealer expenses and fees” – Incomplete. You ignored the $6,600+ in loan payments, insurance premiums, and other out-of-pocket costs I already paid. Under Fla. Stat. § 320.27 and FDUTPA, I am entitled to reimbursement of all costs, not just selective ones. 3. “Discount on a replacement vehicle” – Misrepresentation. In writing, your General Manager told me: “complete reversal of the deal, we are looking for another Escalade.” That is not a “discount.” That is a clear replacement promise made to me directly. 4. “Customer demanded a free car” – False. I am not asking for anything free. I am asking for what the law requires and what your GM committed to in writing: • Loan cancellation with no credit damage. • Full reimbursement of all amounts I paid. • The Escalade replacement promised as part of making me whole. 5. Dyer Group’s reputation – This is not an isolated issue. Across multiple Dyer stores in Florida, there are numerous consumer complaints online and with regulators. My case reflects a pattern of poor practices and broken promises that undermines the trust customers should be able to place in a Chevrolet franchise.
