After leaving a deposit and providing them will all the info they required, they came back to me a day later to tell me someone “just” walked into the dealer and purchased the vehicle I had the deposit on! A miscommunication with the dealership is what they said. A complete waste of time and what’s worse is when I expressed my displeasure, they ghosted me. Not a single person reached back out to see if they can make it right. It took DAYS of consistent pestering just to get someone to refund my deposit! They simply don’t care. They rely on gullible and uninformed people to make money. Never had such a bad experience with a company like this before. Try Carvana or CarMax instead, as it doesn’t get much worse than this. More

I started looking for a used hybrid on Friday 8/11/23. I ran across driveway.com and quickly found a vehicle I liked. I sent in my order for the car. Joseph contacted me right away and we started the process. I let Joseph know I was needing to get in a vehicle ASAP. The first car I wanted was coming from California and Joseph was proactive on letting me know that vehicles coming from California do not come with temporary tags or plates, so I could possibly wait up to 30 days before I could drive my car. I quickly found another vehicle, which happened to be local, so there was no shipping charges. I had my own financing through Navy Federal, so all I had to do was pay a refundable $500 deposit and show proof of insurance. This is where I started to encounter poor customer service. The communication was superb up until I secured the deal. I noticed the vehicle was still showing available online, so I asked Joseph why it didn’t show as pending like the first vehicle I was going to get. My intuition started getting a bad feeling so I looked up reviews. I saw several reviews from people saying they started the process only to find out the vehicle they wanted was sold. He responded the next day and told me not to worry that I was the first person to get to this car and it was reserved for me. I asked him how long before it could be delivered. I didn’t get an answer, so I decided to call the dealership myself. The dealership informed me they had just received the car the day before I ordered it, and it could take up to two weeks depending on what needed to be done on the car. I text Joseph and told him I wasn’t aware that it would be up to two weeks before I could get the car. He told me he was not aware, which was a lie because the dealership told me he was very much aware. I secured the deal on a Friday and the service tech that was going to be getting my vehicle ready, does not work on weekends. I called the dealership on Monday and the service guy left at 4 PM, but he had not had a chance to look at my vehicle to see when I could possibly get it. I reached out to Joseph and told him I wanted to find another vehicle that is ready to be shipped and sent him to other vehicles that I was interested in. I didn’t get a response until almost 24 hours later. He said he sent a message to both dealerships and would get back with me. I decided to contact both of the dealership myself. I found out one of them was already sold, and the other was available and ready to be shipped. At this point, I was very frustrated with Joseph and the entire process. I didn’t feel comfortable going forward with a new vehicle or the vehicle that I had already ordered. I asked Joseph to cancel the order and he tried talking me into finding another vehicle. I ended up calling customer service and canceling the sale on Wednesday afternoon. About 30 minutes after I canceled the sale, the service guy called me and told me my vehicle would really be ready no later than Saturday. I contacted a sales rep at the dealership and am now purchasing directly through the dealership. I wasn’t happy with the way Joseph handled this. I think it worked out exactly how it should have, because there’s no telling how long I would’ve had to wait for my plates to come in. I am purchasing this vehicle so I can start driving Uber, which I cannot do until I have permanent plates. The number one complaint I see is people waiting months for their plates. More
This has been like shopping with a romance scammer and like with the array of employees I’ve talk to and the car being dropped off on the side of the highway with no plates. They started charging me on July 4 interest and we are up to $300 for a car. They got dropped off with no plates and illegals. They will not tell me where the registration is. They will play phone tag with me and they don’t get back to me. I got pushed into signing the delivery contract saying it would help my registration to get through faster now so I don’t know what I like. If I could just register the car myself, we have some kind of bill of sale but I have taken this to the attorney general and we’re gonna see how this is going to go with them. This company needs to knock this off. It is not right what they are doing. It is disgusting. I see you guys do respond to your comments here. Well I would love for you to respond me maybe bring me my plates for my Nissan leaf so if you could possibly do that I I do appreciate the random text messages from random people telling me like everything‘s gonna be OK. It does make me feel a little bit better, because I’m about to end up having to be in therapy over this , I am going into financial ruin. I have to rent a car. I have to keep insurance going for another car. I’ve had to borrow cars I had to take buses I had to take Uber‘s. I’ve had to take trains because of this car and I am like baffled. Oh, and I also love how many times you guys ran my credit report it was beautiful. They just kept pinging it. It’s been a wonderful experience beginning to end and Jeffrey delivery coordinator. Thank you your lovely everyone to drop the car off on the side of the highway appreciate you guys too and I’ve never seen anybody drop off a car with no plates on it in the United States in my life. 😂 I would never go through these people again I didn’t know like a three star review. I know that’s not stellar, but I thought you eventually got your plates or car but I have no titles. Yeah, I’d rather have a colonoscopy done without anesthesia than ever go through this company again. More
Slimy process, slimier people. I found a car I liked after a long time looking. Went through the process. They rated my loan terms over 90%+ likely to succeed. Nope. Lost points on my credit score, plus no car to show for it. Now, it's going to impact my ability to get good terms when I do buy a car, from an actual dealer. Don't even browse. They also lowballed my trade-in by about $2K. More

A few weeks later I received several mailings from different lenders saying I didn’t qualify because they couldn’t access credit bureau because I had frozen my credit report. Driveway notified me at the time and I promptly un froze the one they wanted and was told everything was now good. The problem was they ran my credit without having the vehicle to sell me! The vehicle was a pre sold order and should not have even been listed. This week I decided to give them another shot by selling my truck and ad before it turned into a cluster. An offer was made and I wanted to accept but had questions and used the chat function but the person couldn’t answer my questions so transferred me and before I could continue I got a phone call and the person started off wanting to answer questions about the Ford Maverick I was interested in. That was the vehicle I tried to buy a year ago!! xxx? I decided to go ahead and accept the offer to purchase my truck via the website but the button to click on to continue would not do anything so contacted them via email to explain the issue and that I wanted to go forward with the deal. I haven’t heard back from them so I gave up and sold it to CarMax for the same money. Very straightforward start to finish. Save your time and stress and do business with anyone but Driveway! More
Honest and straight forward dealings with these people. I'm very happy I learned about them and I highly recommend you give to a try at buying your vehicle. There any hundreds of consumers in the same position. 1. Driveway is collecting YOUR money upfront for the registration and title fees. In return they are either unwilling or unable to complete registration in a timely manner. Therefore negligently holding your money for services they are not obtaining for you. 2. If your vehicle has been delivered and it has been more than two weeks post delivery ask one time for proof from Driveway (This is UPS or Fed Ex Tracking Number) that your title/fees/registration paperwork have been sent to your DMV. Do this on the phone and in writing. Once. When you do not receive this information from them any future attempts at contacting Driveway or Lithia motors will be futile. Truly. Don't bother wasting your time and energy. 2. Send a letter to Driveway/Lithia Motors and the Dealer whom sold you car that they have not provided the plates and registration and you intend to take further action if not resolved immediately. 3. When it does not get resolved, do the research to file a complaint with both your state and the state the dealership is located. Each state has specific entities that govern Car Dealers. It might be a DMV Division, The Attorney Generals Office etc. 4. File a claim if possible against the surety bond of the dealership. 5. Tell a friend, neighbor, coworker, post to social media. Lithia Motors, INC. is not going to address the serious issues with it's business practice without an impact to it's sales. Christy More
Do not purchase a car from this business! I bought my car in April and I received temporary tags until the end of June. I've followed up every two weeks for my permanent registration and plates and no response! I cannot legally drive a car I paid for, and paid registration fees for, just because they cannot process, nor provide me an update, on my registration details. It's the holiday weekend and I can't leave my house because this company had 2.5 months to process my registration and failed to due so. The Driveway name must indicate what your car will be doing... Being, stuck in the driveway with no way to drive it! I read the reviews about registration and before purchasing I was assured up and down it wouldn't be an issue since it was an intrastate purchase (bought in the same state as the dealer selling it). This is not true and I was lied to, just to close the deal. Once I paid my funds all the good customer service stopped and it's way longer than my 7 day trial period or I would have returned the car. I was told this would be taken care of and no one is getting back to me with any updates. Please, please don't purchase a car through this dealer! Learn from my mistake. *I've been in contact with my care person every week. Contacting them is not working and as their sister company aId appreciate if you can have THEM reach out to ME. I've been calling and messaging them with no resolution. Update on 7/21/23-I still haven't received plates or my title, or my registration. The DMV said "what shady dealership didn't issue you your plates yet?". I ended up getting an exception/help from a generous DMV employee who reissued my plates. So I paid this company registration fees and I had to register it myself! I asked for a refund on at least the processing fees but no one will respond! I don't know what to do. Also they took so long 2024 registration is due and the DMV didn't want me to get a late fee since it wasn't my fault I hadn't received anything yet. STILL waiting on a title for a car I bought 3 months ago! Please don't buy from this terrible company! More
