Well, here we go. Since I have free oil change with Don McGill, Went online and made an appointment for Saturday December 30, 2023 at 1:30, noted in the message section, I need oil change and my miles are at 24800. Now mind you I live about 35 minutes from the dealer in normal traffic, arrived at 1:25pm, was told to go inside, went inside waited in line. When I told him I have an appointment for 1:30, the gentleman called that was outside and asked him to take care of me. Young man checked my appointment and took me back inside and wanted to do tire rotation, told him I am here for oil change, thats when Mr. Joey Delgado came, looked up my car on his computer and told me it’s not time for oil change, explained that based on the sticker they posted on my windshield its time, he said no, the sticker just says service and does not mean oil change is due, told him about the message I get when I start the car to take for service to the dealership, Mr. Delgado told me these messages come on every 5000 miles and all they do is reset it, additionally he told me I need to look at my owner’s manual, oil change is due every 10,000 miles, told him I don’t read my manual for oil changes I rely on the dealer or service center for what the service sticker says, I don’t have a log book at what mileage I changed my last oil change, and are you telling me this sticker does not mean anything, he said it does, but not for an oil change. I guess it means they want to get us in the dealership service to stick us with OTHER services, need it or Not? I don’t know. When Mr. Delgado told me again and again I need to look at manual about 10000 miles, mentioned again in when making appointment I did state Oil Change and what my miles are, I asked why the dealer didn’t tell me it’s not time yet. Since I don’t live close by, coming to dealership waiting in line and going back home (frustrated) wasted my 2 hours and 45 minutes. Mr. Delgado actually did not have a Right answer except that’s the way it is, could not explain Honestly/satisfactorily why they state next service at 5000 miles. He did sounded a little ticked off that I get FREE Oil Change, Looking at his computer he commented, You have not been anywhere except Don McGill, (I am thinking its good, I guess getting free oil change is not GOOD for him.) Talking to some friends few days later about this experience, one of the friend says he goes by what it says on the Next Service Date and he has been doing for the last 5 years, and it’s always 5000 miles, looked up his auto manual, sure enough it said oil change at 7500 to 10000 miles. Since he is a paying customer no one told him that he does not need oil change for another 5000 miles, they gladly do the oil change and charge him $74 and some change and tell him, SEE YOU AGAIN. Being retired and a Curious Grumpy OLD man, gave me an idea, I was at a reception about a week after my learning lesson at McGill, talking and mingling with other guests decided to do a Non Scientific sample/study about oil change, talked to bunch of OLD folks like me, selected 10 car owners (remember us OLD folks hate wedding, receptions, etc etc etc, go because we have to, and do keep peace at home so this was welcomed by other Old Far-s. Man this is getting too long a thread. Everyone said they go by the sticker on the windshield, no one has ever opened their owner’s manual to read (too boring), looked up every vehicle in that group, everyone and I mean everyone got their Oil changed anywhere between 2 to 5 thousand miles before they were supposed to for anywhere between one to 7 years they have owned the car. NOT a single service manager told them they don’t need it, That’s 100% Shaft, everyone had one thing in common, They are All Paying Customers. One of the OLD FAR_ thought he was due for a oil change based on More
