Dealership keeps paper copies of every credit card ran ~Friday: Bought car. Handed over title for old car that my parents bought for me in college. After 4 hours of paperwork. Victor sold the new car to me ~Friday: Bought car. Handed over title for old car that my parents bought for me in college. After 4 hours of paperwork. Victor sold the new car to me, and was perfectly fine in the process. I paid with a cashiers check, and left. ~Monday: Title was actually still in my mom's name, and the dealership hadn't noticed. Need to pay back $150 for tax credit I received since I didn't technically own car. No big deal, came in and ran CC for the cash. I filled out 5 more forms ~Thursday Morning: Get a phone call. It's apparently dealership policy to have me sign an additional paper saying I authorize the charge for them to keep on file, but I see they already ran my card on my statement. Apparently that's not supposed to happen. Since I've already had to come in once, and for my convenience I can just have them email the form over and sign it. They'll also have me send over *a photo copy of my credit card via email*. Why the xxxx do they need that? It's apparently dealership policy. Why? For my safety. What do you mean for my safety? It's so in case someone comes in and claims to be me, they have it on file that it's not me. I mentally ask myself if that isn't the credit card's job? I say I'll come in person to sort out, but I am not happy. ~Thursday Night: I come in. Immediately say to wait 5 minutes for a manager "to come explain the process to me". I mentally wonder if I need to bring a adult male in order to not have something explained to me. Manager sits down. Says he's sorry I've had to come in, but doesn't seem sorry about what I'm really worried about. Tells me a story about a scammer coming into their dealership and dispute charging back for a car he bought. Since they couldn't prove that he was there, they were double charged around $50k. So they keep paper copies of every single credit card. I ask him if it's a policy to tell customers about this. He says he tells his "guys" to disclose it but, no, not really. So you don't automatically tell people you do this? No. Where are these copies stored? In a locked room upstairs. Are you saying you have a file cabinet with everyone's credit card? Well, we value privacy. It's also where we store your other information such as your SSN. How many people have a key? Just one (xxxxxxxx), but it's necessary in case we get audited. It protects us from a scam again, and it protects you in case someone comes in trying to claim to be you at this dealership since we have a file on you. I really don't feel comfortable with this, especially with the offer for doing it over email. Well, you'd be surprised how many people are comfortable with it. I mean, I wouldn't, and I mean I wouldn't share my cc over the phone. Funny, I was asked for it for the transfer from (other dealership) fee on the phone from here. Look, we have a copy of a lot of information on file. It's all locked up there, and I rather there than in the cloud where it could get hacked. I then mentally wonder who cleans these rooms. I forced them to refund $150, and pay it back in a check. ~Friday: I get a text message from Victor, my salesman. Here's the quote. "Sorry to hear about the confusion, and please when you get the survey you can write in the comments what we need to improve. If you give me less than a 10 I will penalize myself personally. I think I did everything in my power to please you in your experience here." While I understand as a salesman, he has only so many levers he can play with for my experience, but sending a text message after to tell me to put a 10 on the survey wasn't the right play. Will not be returning to. More

Interesting car sale Went in to see what my car was worth and then what kind of deal I could get. I am not picky and the car that was picked out for me worked.
